Barbie Has a Royal Wedding

Kate-barbie-300

Just in time for the royal one year anniversary, Mattel will release a commemorative royal wedding Barbie doll of both Kate Middleton and Prince William, reports MSNBC.

The dolls, which admittedly look more like Barbie and Ken than Catherine and William, have authentic outfits. Barbie Kate wears a floor-length, long-sleeved, ivory taffeta gown trimmed with lace and faux pearl buttons. It's not exactly McQueen, but it's a pretty close miniature version.

Prince William's look-alike doll of course is a red uniform decorated with a royal blush sash, metallic cummerbund and golden buttons.

The dolls will be available for purchase in April, as a collector's edition for $100 on BarbieCollector.com. These aren't the first royal wedding dolls, but they are the first dolls made by Mattel. Mattel also makes bride and groom replicas of Edward and Bella, from the Twilight series.

Monaco's Royal Wedding: All the Details!

Charlene-wittstock-prince-albert-civil-ceremony-collage
It might not have reached international obsession, but Prince Albert and Charlene Wittstock's royal wedding was just as stunning as William and Catherine's.

After tying the knot on Friday in a small civil ceremony, the Prince and Princess hosted a lavish concert complete with fireworks at the Monte Carlo Harbor in Monaco, according to DailyMail.co.uk. French musician Jean Michel Jarre entertained the thousands of well-wishers who attended the bash. Wittstock removed the powder blue suit jacket she wore during the ceremony to reveal a corset that she paired with a chunky gold statement necklace.

On Saturday, the couple said their "I dos" for the second time in a religious ceremony led by Monaco's Archbishop Bernard Barsi, reports DailyMail.co.uk. Naomi Campbell, Giorgio Armani, and Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld sat amongst the 850 guests who attended the ceremony, according to DailyMail.co.uk. Hundreds of white and cream bouquets and garlands adorned the palace courtyard's grand staircases.

The bride looked stunning in a custom Armani gown that took 40,000 Swarovski crystals, 30,000 golden stones, 20,000 mother of pearl tear drops, and 2,500 hours to create, according to DailyMail.co.uk. A 16-foot silk train trailed behind Wittstock as she walked down the aisle.

The lux ceremony seemed like a tough act to follow, but the couple's dinner and ballroom reception at the Opera Garnier was just as big (but arguably sweeter!) than the wedding. In what might be a record-winning wedding cake, a gigantic, 5-tiered confection -- decked with South Africa's national flower as a nod to the bride's hometown -- towered over the newlyweds, reports DailyMail.co.uk. The couple cut into a smaller, more practical cake that was served to guests.

Wittstock changed into a stunning Armani Prive evening gown for the reception, which featured sheer, shimmering white fabric and a four-tiered ruffled skirt, according to DailyMail.co.uk. Keeping with the color scheme, Prince Albert opted for a white shirt and bowtie under a cream jacket.

Charlene Wittstock and Prince Albert Married

0-char11_edited-1
It's official: Monaco's newest royal couple said "oui" and married this afternoon, reports People.com. Thousands of well-wishers cheered as screens around the royal palace showed pictures of the newlyweds following their civil ceremony. She dressed simply in a blue Chanel suit with billowy pants and pearl earrings, reports Styleite.com. He looked sharper than usual in a sleek black suit.

Tonight, the celebration will end with a lavish reception at Monaco Port. Tomorrow, the couple will have a traditional Catholic ceremony in the palace courtyard to seal the deal even further. We can't wait to see more photos of Wittstock stepping into Grace Kelly's shoes as the Princess of Monaco.

Monaco's Royal Wedding Still On

Prince-albert-300 Don't worry -- the rumors that Charlene Wittstock is running out on her royal groom-to-be are reportedly false. The wedding, which is rumored to cost $65 million (take that, Kim Kardashian!) is on as planned, reports People.com.

Well, we hope so -- otherwise the celebs who are expected to show will be all dressed up with no where to go. Gerard Butler, Demi Moore (with Ashton Kutcher in tow), Naomi Campbell, Karl Lagerfeld and Desmond Tutu are said to be part of the estimated 150,000 guests and well-wishers who will travel to Monaco for the wedding.

Wittstock -- if the rumors started by France's L'Express magazine that she'd be a runaway bride aren't true -- will wear a custom Giorgio Armani gown. Fireworks will follow the reception on Saturday, and then the couple will jet to South Africa for their honeymoon.

William and Kate's Wedding Made $1.7 Million for Charity!

Kate-middleton-prince-william-3

While some celebrities opt for a lavish wedding registry (we're looking at you, Kim Kardashian!), others take a more charitable approach. Before their over-the-top walk down the aisle, William and Kate set up the Royal Wedding Charitable Gift Fund, and based on today's statement from Buckingham Palace, donations weren't sparse. Over $1.7 million was raised for charity, reports EOnline.com.

Private donations and proceeds from official royal wedding swag were included in the grand total, according to CBS News. Wills and Kate selected 26 charities in five categories -- Changing Lives through Arts and Sport; Children Fulfilling their Potential; Help and Care at Home; Support for Service Personnel and Their Families; and Conservation of Future Generations -- to benefit from the cash, according to HollywoodLife.com.

Something tells us the newlyweds will be just fine without a new stand mixer or flatware for their new home in Kensington Palace.

Prince William Turns 29!

Prince-william

Prince William and Kate Middleton will kick off their two-week North American tour by celebrating Canada Day on July 1, but the pair has reason enough to party before even crossing the pond. Wills turns 29 today, reports Radar Online.

But don't expect to see any photos of a royal birthday bash. The Duke is spending the day on duty as a search and rescue helicopter pilot, according to MSNBC. We're sure the prince appreciates the privacy after millions watched his massive April 29 nuptials.

Meanwhile, new details have emerged on Will and Kate's visit to the states. After the pair takes part in a charity polo match at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club, the two will be served by celebrity chef and Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis, according to People.com. What's on the menu? Pea pesto crostini, California chopped salad, and chicken Milanese. Sounds delicious, but we're wondering if the royals will find some time to sneak away for a famous In-N-Out burger during their stay!

Prince Albert and Charlene Wittstock's Honeymoon Plans

Charlene-wittstock-prince-albert

It turns out even other royals are still relishing in William and Kate's royal wedding whimsy. Monaco's Prince Albert and his fiance Charlene Wittstock are planning to honeymoon in South Africa -- close to the Duke and Duchess's honeymoon hot spot -- after they wed on July 1-2, reports People.com.

The couple will jet off to the Oyster Box Hotel in Umhlanga, South Africa for a stunning, seaside vacation where they'll be treated, well, like royals! The resort's 2-story President's Suite comes complete with its own terrace, pool, private dining area, gold-leafed bed, and freestanding bathtub overlooking the ocean, all for a cool $7500 a night, according to People.com.

But there's still work to be done before the royals can enjoy South Africa's solitude. Celebrity chef Alain Ducasse, who's in charge of feeding the couple's 500 guests, has already lined up over 350 people to help prep the Mediterranean menu on the big day, reports the Associated Press. "Prince Albert is very interested in protecting the Mediterranean, its flora and its fauna," he said. "We've decided to do something sustainable, local, and ethical. It's going to be like the essence of the Mediterranean Sea, its tastes, its smells and its colors ... fresh line-caught fish, garden vegetables and fruits for desserts."

The couple will kick off their wedding weekend on July 1 with an intimate civil service and follow it with a bigger, religious ceremony, according to People.com. They announced their engagement last June.
