VH1 Host and former MTV veejay Lala Vasquez revealed on The Wendy Williams Show last week the big news her fans had been waiting (and waiting!) on: After a five-year engagement, she and fiancé Carmelo Anthony (a player for the Denver Nuggets) have finally set a wedding date. Vasquez confirmed they are having a summer wedding and are currently hunting for venues and designers in New York!
Looks like the bride plans to enjoy every minute of the planning process. To eliminate pre-wedding stress she hired celebrity planner Mindy Weiss as their wedding planner. (Weiss has planned weddings for clients like Heidi Klum and Gwen Stefani) We’re sure Mindy will help the longtime loves have the wedding of their dreams! Expected to have nearly 300 guests in attendance, including a long list of A-listers, this wedding will certainly be buzz-worthy!
“Everybody's been waiting for it so long, we might as well invite everybody to come hang out,” Vasquez told Wendy. ‘So long is right! Five years is a long time to wait for your big day. What are your thoughts on long engagements? Are they a do or don’t? How long is too long?
After marrying love Ashley Groussman in an intimate Hawaiian ceremony in Maui, actor and comedian Tom Arnold decided to skip the whole magazine-exclusive deal and share his wedding pics with all his fans. (Thanks Tom!) Here are a few of our favorite shots. Click here to see more!
NFL star Tom Brady is the latest GQ cover guy, and inside the December issue he reflects on he and now-wife Gisele Bundchen’s decision to wed in a small private ceremony just two months after getting engaged.
“We planned it in like ten days, and it was perfect,” he tells the mag. "We went back to the house and I barbecued aged New York strips. We had champagne, a cake, some ice cream. It was a great night. I think you always have this idea that weddings need to be 200 people and you invite everybody, and I'm all for it if people want to do that, but I think there was really something special about just having our parents there."
Only their parents and his young son (with actress Bridget Moynahan) were present at their nuptials, though the pair threw a second (and bigger!) wedding in the bride’s native country, Costa Rica, at their private residence. Forty people attended, all mostly family members of the bride and groom.
"The thing about it is, the day's for you," said Brady. "It's nothing personal against anybody, but it's not about them. It's about what you and your wife need for that day."
We hear ya’ Tom! Do you ladies agree? Is a quickie ceremony something you’d regret later?
Reality TV star Melissa Rycroft (of Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor fame) headed to Vegas with fiance Tye Strickland over the weekend for a little joint bachelor and bachelorette party fun. The lovebirds and their guests stayed in the luxurious Siena suite at The Palazzo, reports Extra TV. I love the idea of a fun-filled Vegas party weekend to say farewell to single life, but you have to know how to do it right. The bride and groom sure seemed to -- taking on the town in style. The ladies joined Rycroft for the Jersey Boys show at the Palazzo, while the men followed the groom to see Phantom – Las Vegas Spectacular. That evening the girls partied hard at the Palazzo’s LAVO club, where they sat at a table on the dance floor, while the guys made their way to TAO (a Paris Hilton favorite) in The Venetian, where they hung-out VIP style until the club closed. These hard-partying lovebirds plan to make it official on December 12th.
Would you head to Sin City for your bachelorette party? If so, where would you do? Spill it below!
When reality TV star Khloe Kardashian married L.A. Lakers player Lamar Odom just a few weeks after they met, her gorgeous fall wedding became the number one entertainment gossip news headline.
Her controversial decision to wed her dream guy so soon was feverishly debated all over TV and the web, so when it was revealed that their wedding footage would be aired in a 2-hour special on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, I just knew America would tune in, eye glued. The show, which aired on Sunday evening, broke records for E! when over 3 million viewers tuned in to see Kardashian and Odom reveal the shocking news to her family and then say “I do” just one week later.
Who needs a videographer when you’ve got a TV crew, right? Well, it certainly gave the happy newlyweds a chance to relive the memories, and the bride a chance to see all the behind the scenes reaction she wasn’t’ there for. What was that like? Kardashian took to her blog to share her reaction.
“It was both incredible and stressful reliving those crazy two weeks,” she blogged. “With the last minute wedding planning, and dealing with the different reactions of my family members --
it was difficult enough the first time around! LOL.”
Fans watched in shock as Khloe refused to tell her stepdad Bruce Jenner the news even after the planning had begun. Does she regret not clueing in dear ol’ dad? Yup!
“ My least favorite part was the whole Bruce issue -- how he found out and how I handled it. My emotions were so high and I was so defensive. At the time, I felt that Lamar and I were being attacked from every which way, and Bruce was just a bystander that spoke up during a time that I was so sick of hearing it. He didn't deserve to be treated that way. I'm grateful for having it taped because I got to see my actions and learn from them. I have apologized to Bruce hundreds of times and we are completely fine, but reliving that wasn't fun and it made me feel guilty all over again.”
We’re glad things are all good now for the two lovebirds. So good in fact, that the new Mrs. Odom has recently admitted to gaining a few post-wedding pounds.
"I stopped my QuickTrim diet for a little bit around the time I met Lamar," she tells E! News. "I was so in love, and I was at my perfect weight, and I didn't want to do it anymore. Since marriage, I've gained about five pounds."
We say who cares, as long as they’re happy. She looked amazing at her wedding, didn’t she? Did you tune in? Which part of the wedding was your favorite? (We loved the many shades or purple, and that gorgeous damask and rose cake!) For more wedding photos from their personal collection, check out her blog!
Melissa Rycroft, reality star of both ABC’s The Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars, is engaged again! Longtime boyfriend Tye Strickland, proposed to Rycroft at White’s Chapel in Southlake, Texas, reports People.
Brace yourself ladies. One of the Jonas Brothers is off the market! Kevin Jonas, 21, has popped the question to his sweetheart, Danielle Deleasa. (Okay, okay, so you probably weren’t interested any way, and you think he’s a little young, but hey we’re telling you anyway!) “She said yes, yes, yes like 500 times super fast in a row,” Jonas told People.
Just Married
Rocker Eddie Van Halen and stunt woman Janie Liszewski wed on June 27. Their casual ceremony was held in Studio City, Calif., reports Us Weekly.
NBA basketball player Brian Cookmarried his girlfriend, Victoria Velasquez on July 4 at the Trump National Golf Club in Palos Verdes, Calif. Luke Walton, of the Los Angeles Lakers served as one of Cook’s best men, reports People.
American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi married her longtime beau Mike McCuddy on July 5 during an intimate ceremony in Maine. “I was very emotional and I’m not somebody who breaks down and cries,” DioGuardi told In Touch Weekly.
As you know Kendra Wilkinson, former star of Girls Next Door, married NFL star Hank Baskett on Saturday during a dreamy fairytale ceremony at the infamous playboy mansion, where she once lived with ex Hugh Hefner. Her official wedding photos hit stands today in the new issue of Us Weekly, and we got the chance to chat with her wedding planner Nicole Hirsty, of Cobalt Events. She dishes on the brides not-so-demanding ways, her first dance romance, and more. Here's the interview:
CWB: Rumor has it, Kendra was quite the bridezilla. True or false? Hirsty: No, she really wasn’t. [Kendra and Hank] were absolutely wonderful. They were fun, and just really involved and very gracious. All she asked was for the girls to wear silver shoes -- that's it. She left the rest up to them. She was very concerned with her bridesmaids. She wanted them to feel good and look beautiful in their dresses.
We think the term “bridezilla” is abused and overused. But that’s the word that came to mind when we watched the People.com video about "Girl Next Door" Kendra Wilkinson's bridesmaids dresses... at least at first. She said:
“I went through a time when the bridesmaids weren’t loving the dress I picked, but I was like, ‘No! I love it. I don’t care.’ But then I was like, ‘Fine, I’ll switch it up.’ So, yeah, the dresses are beautiful. They’re flowy. They’re summery. “
But you be the judge: Did her initial reaction fall into “bridezilla” territory? Was she right or wrong when she stood up for the dresses she wanted?
It’s been a few weeks since we’ve had an update for you about Jennifer Hudson’s upcoming wedding. She’s one of the few starlets left out there not rushing right to the altar. She’s been engaged to beau David Otunga since last fall, and has slowly been revealing details about her big day.
People.com reports that Hudson will include her dogs, Oscar, Grammy and Dream Girl, (love the names, Jennifer!) in her wedding ceremony. She said, “I want my dogs to be in my wedding. I am so serious.”
I’ll spare you the quippy clichés here but I must admit, it’s usually in my nature to mock someone who wants to include a pet in her wedding. However, I have faith that the fabulous Ms. Hudson can make her puppies charming, not cheesy, additions to her wedding. And as always, we went ahead an took the liberty of making a few suggestions for her.
If she wants to make her furry friends look fabulous on her big day, we recommend she browse these sites: "Doggy couture" designer, Emma Rose, has some fierce little ensembles on her site. Or, for a more demure approach, try a wedding bow from "Best Pet."
We’re also hearing rumors that Hudson will design her own “traditional, but very very classy” wedding dress. We have our doubts about that one -- do divas do DIY? I suppose we’ll find out soon enough.
