Kate and William's Guest List Details,
Plus a Royal Tiara
The wedding isn't until April, but it looks like Kate Middleton and Prince William have already decided on a couple of A-listers to invite. Among them? Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney and David and Victoria Beckham, reports the UK's Mirror.
A Royal insider told the tabloid that the Beckham's were among the first to congratulate the happy couple when they announced their engagement. "David texted Wills as soon as he heard, and Wills told him an invite was on its way. David and Victoria were both thrilled and can’t wait," the insider said. Prince William reportedly struck up a friendship with the international soccer celeb when the two teamed up to lead the bid for England's chance to host the 2018 World Cup.
And while the dress is still up in the air, insiders are now saying that Kate Middleton will be offered Princess Diana's priceless pearl and diamond tiara to wear on her wedding day (photo below). Called the Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara, the crown was originally made for Queen Mary in 1913, and was passed down to Diana from the Queen, reports the Mirror. Since Diana's death in 1997, the crown has been kept safe at Buckingham Palace.
The Daily Mail also reports that Earl Spencer, Prince William's uncle, has been asked to speak at the royal reception. Known for his serial womanizing and repeat divorces, the announcement has no doubt raised a few eyebrows throughout Buckingham. While some say that Prince William is just determined to keep his mother's spirit alive, others say it's in poor taste, and recall the Earl's scathing speech during Diana's funeral, where he all but accused the royal family of abandoning his sister. We say, it wouldn't be a royal wedding without a little bit of family drama, right?
