Steve from "Tough Love" stops by
Who doesn't need a little Tough Love? We do.
"Tough Love" host and relationship guru, Steve Ward stopped by our office this afternoon -- with his mom, Joann! -- to take all kinds of relationship questions and talk about the latest season of "Tough Love Couples."
If you haven't seen the show (and we highly recommend it), "Tough Love Couples" centers around couples who have been on the rocks and are unable to truly commit for one reason or another. They go through the "Tough Love Bootcamp" on the show to find out if they're made to last. In the end, couples are asked to either get engaged or call it quits for good.
With a show like that, it probably comes as no surprise that Steve is a real straight shooter -- he tells it like it is. Here are couple of Q&A's we went through during his visit.
What type of behavior should send up the biggest red flag before a couple gets married?
Steve: Wandering eyes. If he's always looking to see if the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, that fence is only going to get lower once you get married.
What are the 3 biggest things every couple should agree on?
Steve: Sex, kids and religion.
What was the most outrageous moment on this season of "Tough Love Couples"?
Steve: It had to be when I sat down with Sherry and she painted with great detail the sexual relationship she had with Ryan.[For those who may not remember, Ryan was the guy who swore again and again that he had not cheated on Axelle... until Steve brought the girl he had cheated with, Sherry, on to the show].
Joann: We believe in honesty. There's never a reason to lie. And Ryan had every chance to come clean. To confess. And he didn't. When you lie, you're going to get caught, and if you don't, it's just bad karma. Axelle didn't want to watch the video of Sherry, but I made her. I didn't want her to go home and fall into the same pattern with Ryan. Just think -- if he's lying on national television, just think what he will do when he gets home.
What's the tell-tale sign that your man is cheating?
Steve: When he starts being too nice. If you just come home and he got your flowers one day for no reason -- and he doesn't usually do that -- you should probably ask, 'Why did you get me flowers?' If there's a change in behavior for no reason, you should ask. He's being nicer because he's feeling guilty.
The wedding episode of "Tough Love Couples" -- where some of the couples will actually be married by Steve -- premieres on May 31. Take our poll below and tell us, would you go on TV to save your relationship?
