NY Magazine Weddings Event Recap!

Newmagevent_580

Wedding Channel h had the chance to check out a New York Magazine Weddings event on Wednesday night and it was a blast! Vendors fronm all over the tri-state area turned up to chat about some of the newest trends on the market.

So what's hot right now? A few of the caterers told us that they're still getting a huge demand for all types of comfort foods, regardless of budget or style of the wedding. "I can't tell you how many conversations I've had about pigs in a blanket!" one caterer told us. And speaking of comfort food, we found one vendor, Gold Coast Ice Cream, who will actually bring a vintage ice cream truck to your wedding (or reception!) and serve ice cream just like in the good old days.

Hatch Creative Studio was also there with an amazing display of what a woodsy-inspired reception might look like (above right photo). We loved their plates (which can be rented!) -- they were mismatched plates with intricate flower patterns painted on each that had just an edge of French country to them. What do you think, would you buy mismatched plates for your reception?

We also discovered a newly launched registry site called Newly Wish that lets you register for all local vendors, rather than going with some of the bigger guys. What a cute idea! Right now, they're also running a contest -- if you're one of the first brides to register with them, you can receive a gift valued at $100 or more.

On the fashion front, Cymbeline was on hand to show off some gorgeous gowns (they just opened a new boutique in NYC!), plus the owner of the new bridal boutique, Lovely (which we blogged about here). There was also this lovely designer there, called Twobirds who makes these super chic dresses that can be tied and worn in a bunch of different ways. We've seen this idea before from designers like American Apparel and Butter by Nadia, but these sleek fabrics and kick it up a notch from the rest! We're seeing these a lot lately and starting to wonder -- will the 'tie it 100 ways' dress be a new bridesmaid trend? Tell us what you think!

And don't forget to tune in all weekend long for our straight from the runway coverage of Fall 2010 Bridal Fashion Week!
