swirlBrides In The Newsswirl

Bridezilla Attacks!

We'll be the first ones to tell you that planning your wedding can be stressful at times -- but this is WAY too much.

A real-life bridezilla is accused of going on a rampage after a bridal store owner refuses to alter her wedding dress. And the bride doesn't do it alone. She calls in back-up from her father and a few family friends who are allegedly responsible for assaulting the Boston bridal shop owner, his wife and his son -- in addition to destroying an estimated $20,000 of formal attire.

The whole thing was caught on security cameras inside the store. Three men enter during business hours, begin pushing and shoving the owner, and soon an all-out brawl breaks out. Watch and see!

We all know things can get out of hand while you're planning for the big day, but c'mon! If a vendor upsets you, be the bigger person, head home, vent to your family and FH, and take your business elsewhere.

What do you think? Have things ever gotten out of hand during your planning? Share your thoughts!

Interview with America Ferrera

America Ferrera Interview Save the date: America Ferrera is getting married on March 12! Well, not exactly...but Lucia Ramirez (the character she plays) will be! The 25-year-old actress is starring in the new romantic comedy, a movie about two lovebirds who are ready to tie the knot and want to bring their culturally diverse families together.

America, well-known for her part in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and the hit TV-series Ugly Betty shares with us her take on marriage, the movie and why weddings aren’t complete without a little bit of drama.

So what is "Our Family Wedding" about?

Our Family Wedding is kind of based on the motto, “our marriage, their wedding” and it’s about this couple Lucia and Marcus who sort of show up in their hometown of Los Angeles and surprise their parents with, “This is my fiancé you've never met and we’re getting married in two weeks!” The family scrambles to come to terms with it as there is a clash of cultures -- Marcus is African American and Lucia’s family is Mexican. The dads, especially, start in a place where they believe there are so many differences that can’t be reconciled.

Is that what makes Lucia anxious about telling her parents?

I think that Lucia’s journey has a lot to do with her relationship with her family, especially her father, and finding a way to be the woman that she has become in their presence. You see her as this strong character who knows what she wants and then as soon as she gets around her family she’s back to being that 15-year-old girl again, you know “Daddy’s little girl.” And that creates problems for her and Marcus.

Her journey is about trying to own the choices that she’s made in her life and be honest with her family about the life that she wants and who she is. The relationship with her father is one of constantly trying to please him. You know, I want him to be happy, he’s worked hard for this life that we have. He’s worked hard to give me the opportunities that I’ve had. People get that kind of pressure all the time and so how do you then turn around and tell your parents, “I love you, thank you so much for everything that you’ve given me, but I sort of want to go on a completely different path.” And so it’s her coming to the realization that she has to be courageous enough to make that choice.

Weddings are so big, and in this movie they’re represented in very funny ways. What about weddings just makes people behave differently?

I don’t know. Weddings are crazy. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a single wedding where there wasn’t some drama.

Such as?

You know, crazy in-laws, people who don’t know how to be present in a day that’s not about them. Family is super complicated, and when a huge change is happening in one family member’s life, it holds a mirror up to everyone else.

What’s your idea of your own dream wedding?

I have no idea. I’ve never been the type of woman to dream about my wedding day. That’s not really important to me. I have friends who have done beautiful things at city hall and then people who have had big gorgeous weddings that were lovely and wonderful. I think that when it gets to that point you can only know then what’s right for you. And you just have to wait and see.

'Millionaire Matchmaker' Patti Stanger’s Wedding Day Details

Patti Stanger's Wedding Details
She’s sent countless rich and beautiful (not to mention head over heels in love!) couples down the aisle. Now Patti Stanger of Bravo’s The Millionaire Matchmaker is taking her very own trip to the altar. We got the chance to talk to Patti and discuss her wedding planning: What wedding day details she’s splurging on, how she plans to prep for her big day and what advice she can offer other blushing brides. Read on to get the scoop!

After receiving a huge, heart shaped diamond ring from longtime boyfriend and real estate executive, Andy Friedman -- Patti is smack in the middle of wedding planning. The reality star admits that wedding prep tends to be even more stressful than her day job. I’m sure that the brides on WeddingChannel.com can agree! If it were up to Patti she would opt to elope or have an intimate destination wedding, but her fiancé has a different vision – and it involves a 500 guest count affair. “Opposites attract,” Patti points out. So they’re practicing what she believes to be two keys to any relationship: communication and compromise. (Anyone who’s seen the show knows what the outspoken star thinks is equally important!)

To meet in the middle, the two are considering these venue options: A local, beachside California hotel, or a casual backyard ceremony (they’re currently house-hunting so why not?). For her wedding décor, Stanger’s channeling the art deco style of interior designer Kelly Wearstler and featuring a black-and-white color theme, accented with pink roses. She also plans on incorporating beach-y elements like orchids, dolphins, and even kissing fish in glass vase centerpieces. Her biggest splurge? Chair covers!

Taking a cue from Alyssa Milano, this bride is serving up family-style meals. “We love to eat!” she says. Though despite their love for great food (I’m sure we all can relate!), Patti has successfully lost 20 pounds by making careful meal choices and making sure to pack healthy snacks when she’s on the go (think apples or carrots). We asked Patti if she had any nutritional advice to offer for our WeddingChannel.com brides looking to lose weight and she suggested pureeing veggies. Carrot soup or beet juice are both filling and low on calories. (Psst...if you are looking to drop a dress size before your big day check out our free fitness program with celeb fitness trainer, Marco Borges!)

With her hot décor ideas (and new body!), how could Patti settle on anything less than a hot designer dress? We’ve got the lowdown on this reality-TV star’s dream dress. Check back next week to find out!

Bachelor's Jason and Molly Marry in the Rain!

Mollyfnp-ac-000005197 From a rose ceremony to a real ceremony, Bachelor contestants Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney exchanged vows during the pouring rain at the incredible Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California on Saturday.

The couple may have had a controversial path to the altar, but their wedding went off without a hitch. Carrying a cascading bouquet of white orchids, Molly looked stunning in a strapless Monique Lhuillier gown and Neil Lane jewelry. And while a dramatic downpour interrupted the middle of the ceremony, the couple looked romantic huddled under a clear, cute umbrella. If you’re planning on an outdoor wedding, we recommend you follow their lead, and stock up on similar ones, like these from graphicice.com.

ABC airs The Bachelor: Jason and Molly’s Wedding on March 8th.
