Jay-Z Wants to Add Wedding DJ to His Resume (But You Better Book Him Early!)

Jay_Z_Performance Though rap mogul Jay-Z is famous for selling out crowds to see him perform his chart-topping hits, right now he’s considering taking a more backseat role and spinning the tunes instead – at a wedding near you! The rapper, who’s married to mega star Beyonce, plans to become a high-priced celebrity wedding DJ and shake things up a bit in that industry.

“I’ve got a whole plan,” explains Jay-Z. “I’m gonna get me a little Serato set, some DJ software. I’m gonna work on that for six months, then I’m gonna find out which DJ makes the most and charge double and tour, do bar mitzvahs, weddings.”

Why so pricey? He’s thinking (really!) big: “I’m gonna have video behind me and dancers. I’m gonna have people just go out and pour champagne when I get to a certain song. I’m going to make a whole show of this thing.”

Sounds like a party to us! Would you break your wedding budget to have Jay-Z rock your reception? We admit, we totally would, so according to him, we better give a move on!

“If you want to book me, book me early, because the prices will be a little better because when I get good, I’m really going to go for it."

I think this is a terrible idea. Weddings are about the happy couple, not who's performing. A good DJ will run the show like Ryan Seacrest, give the spotlight away and just coordinate the events, NOT steal the spotlight like Jay Z.

Plus, look at a Jay Z show. Who's in the audience? The same age group and demographic of people, not a wide range from little children to grandparents.

Jay Z should stick with what he knows.
