Chelsea Clinton Announces Engagement Via E-Mail: Etiquette Do or Don’t?

ChelseaClinton_GettyImages_73498762_240 Former first-daughter Chelsea Clinton is engaged. Her longtime love Marc Mezvinsky is the lucky guy – he popped the question on Thanksgiving Day in New York. The happy couple sent out an e-mail Friday announcing their big news to family and friends, reports People.com. It read: "We're sorry for the mass email but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn't get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays! Chelsea & Marc."

Traditionally speaking, announcing an engagement via e-mail would be considered tacky, but nowadays the rules have changed. You can bend them to your liking, and announce your engagement in a way that best fits you’re personalities. (Check out these 5 creative ways to share the news!)

Tom Arnold Weds a Fourth Time: Read His-and-Hers Love Stories in the Couple’s Own Words

Tom_Arnold_Ashley_Wedding Actor Tom Arnold exchanged vows with Ashley Groussman during an intimate ceremony in Maui on Saturday in front of 75 guests. The wedding took place at Shep and Renee Gordon’s residence. The bride, a home organizer, wore a Claire Pettibone gown (check out new designs from her spring line here) Actor Dax Shepard was the best man, and the bride’s sister, jewelry designer Andrea Groussman, served as the maid of honor and had the honor of designing the couple’s rings. Prior to the wedding the lovebirds set up a wedding webpage and registry on our site and shared their individual accounts of how they met and they day they got engaged (Arnold’s 50th birthday.). After reading it, I must say, these two are crazy about each other. See for yourself:

The Groom Wrote: “I knew that if I could get Ashley to fall in love with me, I'd never have to worry about anything else as long as I lived..except earning that smile. Her smile...for me and only me.”

The Bride Wrote: “In the middle of Mr. Chow, Tom was proposing. I opened the box and literally saw the most beautiful ring I have EVER seen. We were both so flustered, and happy, we were trying to figure out what hand it went on. He slipped it on my finger and we rushed out the door. The rest is history...One thing I know is March 6, 2009 [was] the best day of my life.”

Penelope Cruz on the Hunt for Wedding Gown Designer?

112509_penelope_GJM_84976917_10 Rumor has it that beautiful bride-to-be Penelope Cruz is on the hunt for a wedding gown designer, reports In Touch Weekly. The actress hasn’t completely copped to being engaged to beau Javier Bardem just yet, even after being spotted with a gorgeous blue sapphire ring on her left hand, but that hasn’t stopped the wedding planning rumors from flying.

“Since she and Javier are from Spain, she’d love to have a Spanish designer create her dream gown,” a sources tell the mag. House of Balenciaga, whose founder was from Spain, may be the lucky pick they added. Which sounds about right to us, since her best friend Salma Hayek wore a gorgeous gown from the designer when she wed billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault earlier this year.

Which designer would you pick for Penelope? Check out the hot new designer gowns for spring that we spotted on the runways at Bridal Fashion Week here .

Project Runway Winner Irina Shabayeva Designs Vegas-Inspired Wedding Dress for Kelly Ripa

Kelly_Ripa_Wedding_Gown_Irina_Shabayeva Project Runway winner Irina Shabayeva paid Live! With Regis and Kely a visit this week and found herself faced with yet another challenge. Since the show is taping in Las Vegas all week long, and host Kelly Ripa eloped there years ago and never got to wear a traditional wedding dress, why not design a special one just for her? Shabayeva, having already claimed Season 6 victory, was totally up for the challenge. Her stunning creation was revealed yesterday morning on the show and we love both the dress, and seeing the beautiful Ripa in it. Isn’t it lovely girls? If you look closely at the ball gown’s skirt, you’ll notice dramatic swirl details, which is one of the hot dress trends we spotted on the runways of Bridal Fashion Week this fall.

Kim Kardashian in Her Mom’s Wedding Dress: Love it or Hate It?

Kim_kardashian_wedding_dress_2 Reality TV star Kim Kardashian recently took to her blog to show off photos of herself trying on her mother’s (Kris Jenner) old wedding gowns. The photo shoot was her way of cheering up her mom, since younger sis Khloe Kardashian called the dress (which Jenner wore to marry first husband Robert Kardashian) “ugly” while they were taping the wedding special for the family’s reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

“It was a perfect fit,” Kim blogged. “I did look like Little Bo Peep, but it was pretty special. I then tried on my mom's dress she wore when she married Bruce. It's sooo 90s hahaha.”

We love the look – and the hat. Vintage is huge right now in bridal. Do you?

Tom Brady to GQ: My Wedding “Was Really Something Special”!

GilselleGQ NFL star Tom Brady is the latest GQ cover guy, and inside the December issue he reflects on he and now-wife Gisele Bundchen’s decision to wed in a small private ceremony just two months after getting engaged.

“We planned it in like ten days, and it was perfect,” he tells the mag. "We went back to the house and I barbecued aged New York strips. We had champagne, a cake, some ice cream. It was a great night. I think you always have this idea that weddings need to be 200 people and you invite everybody, and I'm all for it if people want to do that, but I think there was really something special about just having our parents there."

Only their parents and his young son (with actress Bridget Moynahan) were present at their nuptials, though the pair threw a second (and bigger!) wedding in the bride’s native country, Costa Rica, at their private residence. Forty people attended, all mostly family members of the bride and groom.

"The thing about it is, the day's for you," said Brady. "It's nothing personal against anybody, but it's not about them. It's about what you and your wife need for that day."

We hear ya’ Tom! Do you ladies agree? Is a quickie ceremony something you’d regret later?

Celebrity Engagement Badgering: New Trend?

When the paparazzi first started meddling in celebrity’s love lives full-time it was all about snooping in their trash cans for hints about the details of their romantic vacations while they were dating, then hanging from trees to get forbidden wedding photos when they finally took the plunged. But lately two stars don’t even have to be officially dating to get slammed with questions about being engaged! What has celebrity stalking come to? The paps have taken something as wonderful as getting engaged to someone you love and turned it into an annoying and constant inquiry that makes saying “yes” almost no fun. Case in point: Check out this video that shows New Moon star Kristen Stewart being swarmed by aggressive press in Europe demanding to know if the fact that she was spotted holding hands with co-star and rumored love interest Robert Pattinson meant they were engaged. Really guys? That’s all it takes to be engaged nowadays? Forget the ring altogether, huh? Sickening!

Details on Reality Star Melissa Rycroft and Fiance's Joint Bachelor/Bachelorette Weekend in Vegas

111609_melissarycroft

Reality TV star Melissa Rycroft (of Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor fame) headed to Vegas with fiance Tye Strickland over the weekend for a little joint bachelor and bachelorette party fun. The lovebirds and their guests stayed in the luxurious Siena suite at The Palazzo, reports Extra TV. I love the idea of a fun-filled Vegas party weekend to say farewell to single life, but you have to know how to do it right. The bride and groom sure seemed to -- taking on the town in style. The ladies joined Rycroft for the Jersey Boys show at the Palazzo, while the men followed the groom to see Phantom – Las Vegas Spectacular. That evening the girls partied hard at the Palazzo’s LAVO club, where they sat at a table on the dance floor, while the guys made their way to TAO (a Paris Hilton favorite) in The Venetian, where they hung-out VIP style until the club closed. These hard-partying lovebirds plan to make it official on December 12th.

Would you head to Sin City for your bachelorette party? If so, where would you do? Spill it below!

Celebrity Wedding Stationery Style: 3 Hot Looks for Your Big Day

As much as I love to gawk at all the amazing gowns, flowers, and venues that you’ll see in an A-list wedding affair, sometimes it’s the little details the celebrities choose that prove to be the real standouts. Here are three of my favorite celebrity wedding stationery finds from 2009, and where to find a similar look for your own special day.

Khloe_kardashian_wedding_menu
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s Wedding Menu
Purple-loving bride Khloe Kardashian chose to use a lavender damask print for her wedding menus, which were designed by Lehr and Black. The pattern gives it a classic, more traditional feel, but the color really makes it ultra feminine and suggestive of a fairy tale event – which is exactly what the happy couple wanted. For a similar look try the Miss Haversham collection from Mr. Boddington’s Studio, shown here in purple, but available in lots of other fabulous colors and combos.

Salma_hayek_wedding_menus
Salma and Francois-Henri Pinault’s Wedding Menu
Nothing about Salma Hayek’s Venice wedding weekend was ordinary – masquerade ball anyone? So, the couple’s wedding menus (also a Lehr and Black creation) were no exception. They chose round die cut menus with black and gold hot stamping. I’m all about round menus (they really standout on the tables and work well with most table setting décor), and I just found a great design on Etsy that’s equally stunning, and very similar. These 8-inch round damask menus are from jamiekonet’s shop, so if you like them too, pay her a visit for pricing and more details.

Fergie_and_josh_wedding_invitations_cariacture
Fergie and Josh’s Caricature Inserts
When Fergie married Josh Duhamel in a lavish Vineyard ceremony, they chose to give out invites at the end of the wedding instead, as favors, in order to keep their special day private and paparazzi free. Inside their invites guests found a copy of this caricature of the couple -- also designed by Lehr and Black. (To say they’re a celebrity favorite would be an understatement -- they’re more like the premiere celebrity stationery designers!) Cute right? To get your own made, try paying Caricature King a visit to search for an artist and see samples of other wedding caricatures they’ve done.
