Chelsea Clinton Announces Engagement Via E-Mail: Etiquette Do or Don’t?

ChelseaClinton_GettyImages_73498762_240 Former first-daughter Chelsea Clinton is engaged. Her longtime love Marc Mezvinsky is the lucky guy – he popped the question on Thanksgiving Day in New York. The happy couple sent out an e-mail Friday announcing their big news to family and friends, reports People.com. It read: "We're sorry for the mass email but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn't get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays! Chelsea & Marc."

Traditionally speaking, announcing an engagement via e-mail would be considered tacky, but nowadays the rules have changed. You can bend them to your liking, and announce your engagement in a way that best fits you’re personalities. (Check out these 5 creative ways to share the news!)

I am sure they will have a wonderful time planning their wedding. And hope they will be happy in the future time.

It still is tacky. No amount of 'New Era' BS will ever cover that up. If people don't care about proper etiquette, that is one thing. But to say it's now okay...is and always will be untrue. Chelsea and Marc made a social faux paus!
