Since she converted to Judaism to be with love Jared Kushner after he proposed this summer, new bride Ivanka Trump went in search of a wedding dress with sleeves to follow Orthodox practices. As you know, she called on much-sought-after celebrity designer Vera Wang to create a dress inspired by Grace Kelly’s wedding gown. We saw the stunningly beautiful result this Sunday, and apparently we weren’t the only ones who were super-impressed. Fashion critics all over are giving Trump and A+ for her gown pick, and kudos to Vera for pulling it all together in a month. In fact, New York Magazine is reporting that New York Times fashion critic Cathy Horyn “just died over the sleeves”, and wrote that “we’re so used to seeing brides in strapless dresses that Ms. Trump’s gown made a fresh statement.” Even the designer herself was inspired by the challenge and the result:
“[Ivanka] was actually very much about being covered and I seized on the chance to do a dress that wasn’t naked and very Hollywood,” Wang told the magazine.
We feel a trend coming on. Do you? Ms. Vera sure thinks so! When asked about the potential for bridal gowns with sleeves to catch on she said: “Nothing would make me happier. I’ve been doing strapless dresses for 15 years. It’s tiring.”

Smart businesswoman Ivanka Trump wore platinum pieces from her very own Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry Collection when she married love Jared Kushner in a lavish ceremony on Sunday. Trump, who chose a custom, vintage-inspired Vera Wang gown for her big day, designed a platinum and diamond hairpiece to accent her veil. She then chose a pair of platinum and diamond cluster earrings and an Art Deco link bracelet to compliment it. In total her bridal bling (shown here!) contained over 42 carats of diamonds. She’s clearly a fan of platinum, and who can blame her? Celebs love the metal's durability and shine. Recent brides Christina Hendricks, Jenna Dewan, khloe Kardashian, and Kendra Wilkinson all wore platinum jewelry on their wedding day.

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are now husband and wife. After getting engaged July 15th, the pair made it official on Sunday at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Trump wore a gown designed by Vera Wang (get a sneak peak at her new Spring 2010 line here) and inspired by icon Grace Kelly. Celebrity planner Preston Bailey headed up the planning, reports People.com, and more than 500 people attended. Famous morning personality Regis Philbin sang at the reception, and word is the ceremony was very lavish. We’ll have more details to share as we hear about them. Stay tuned!

Ever since Milla Jovovich wore a gorgeous Grecian-inspired hair wreath at her beautiful backyard wedding, we’ve been absolutely in love with the look, and now we’re noticing other brides are too. If you’re thinking of skipping your veil for a pretty hair wreath, you’ll find that there are lots of pretty options out there. Right now we’re nuts about the ones band.do is offering for brides. Here are four of our favorites. How about lace flowers or gold sequins for all you vintage brides? Or a lovely halo of flowers for you brides hooked on a garden theme? And, of course, we didn’t forget about you brides out there looking to add a pop of color: This pink, peach, and feather combo is divine!

I got a chance to visit Lela Rose in her studio during Bridal Fashion Week, and boy did we have fun! We chatted about what’s hot for bridesmaids (non-matching dresses with a common element, like rosettes, for instance), her new line (lookout for gorgeous flowing gowns inspired by water movement), and of course, what celebrity bride-to-bes might wear down the aisle. When I asked her about Penelope Cruz’s upcoming wedding to Javier Bardem and if she thought any of her new gowns might be a good fit, she told me she’d “already made it for her!”. Said gown is The Chalet, a gorgeous silk tulle gown with a beautifully embroidered full skirt, from her new Spring 2010 bridal line. Watch the video to get a sneak peak at the gown (Penelope we hope you’re watching, this dress would look so great on you!) and to see why Rose thinks it’s perfect for the big-screen beauty.

During my visit at the Augusta Jones suite, I got a chance to talk with National Sales Manager Tricia Schweitzer about their fabulous new line (look out for oh-so-pretty lace, elegant silhouettes, and light and soft fabrics) and which dress they would pick for bride-to-be Uma Thurman -- who did not elope last weekend, by the way. Check out the video now!

Every bride promises her bridesmaids that she will pick a dress that is affordable, can be worn on multiple occasions and looks great on every body type. Sadly, very few brides every truly deliver on this promise. A beautiful exception... recent celebrity bride Alyssa Milano!
Alyssa chose twobirds Bridesmaid’s aubergine convertible gown and let her bridesmaids pick how they wanted to wear the dress. Whether twisted around the neck, spaghetti-strapped or wrapped as a halter-top, each of Alyssa’s bridesmaids created their own unique look by rearranging the top of the gown. (What could there be to complain about?) According to the team at twobirds, the ladies were thrilled when they discovered that the gown could be converted into fifteen unique looks for any occasion! Making it far more likely that they’ll wear them again.
twobirds Bridesmaid will unveil their new collection along with celebrity favorites Sylvia Weinstock, David Tutera by Faviana, and Bobbi Brown at Tatiana Byron’s Wedding Salon event on November 2nd at The Roosevelt Hotel in NYC. So be there or be square brides – I’m sure you’ll want to check these maid-pleasing gowns out up close and personal.

Pesavento Couture is known for its chic mother-of-the-bride fashions, and I just learned that this spring the designer is ready to take on bridal couture too. I caught up with Jamie Pesavento and Bridal Fashion Week to check out this first bridal line, and during our visits I fell in love with a dramatic headpiece he came up with while designing one of the new gowns. The piece is fabulous, and so is the story behind its creation. Check out a clip from our interview! (I'm behind the camera, and I bumped into my good friend Anja Winnika from TheKnot.com who offered to model it for us -- thanks Anja!)

Each year when I visit Bridal Fashion Week, I look forward to seeing what designer Amy Michelson has in store for the new season. I'm a huge fan of her work, which is best known for having dramatic backs and super-girly details. I chatted with Amy about her new Spring 2010 line (which she says is all about flowers, feathers, and sexiness!), and got a sneak peek at the actual gowns -- which are fabulous and perfect for the modern spring or summer bride looking to turn heads as she makes her way down that aisle. Before I left her suite, I just had to ask Amy if she had any gown ideas in mind for bride-to-be Jennifer Hudson, whom she recently styled for a red-carpet event, and of course, she already has the perfect curve-hugging style in mind. Watch the interview, and check out the gown here! (Jennifer we hope you're listening, because this one's red white-hot!

When Angelina Jolie strutted her stuff on the red carpet at the 2009 Oscars she turned heads and made fashion headlines in a black Elie Saab floor-length gown paired with an eye-popping pair of green jeweled earrings and ring. She didn't just inspire fashionistas worldwide -- she inspired bridal accessory designers too. At Bridal Fashion Week I spotted colorful drop earrings all over the new accessory lines for brides, and the San-Francisco based Haute Bride team was happy to showcase their new Angie-inspired creation.
