John Krasinski and Emily Blunt Engaged (Fans Happy and Sad!)

John_krasinski_office_headshotIf you were still getting used to watching The Office cutie Jim Halpert prepare to say “I do”, you’re really going to be hurting now. The New York Daily News reports that the show’s star John Krasinski is engaged in real life to British actress Emily Blunt, after dating for just 10 months.

The couple has been very low-key since they began dating in November 2008, so as you can expect the man who was voted one of People’s Sexiest Men Alive in 2009 had some pretty stunned fans. According to a recent People.com story, his fans were expressing both happiness and disappointment on Twitter when news of the engagement broke. Well, here at CWB we’re happy to see these two attempt to make it work in Hollywood, but sad that we won’t be hearing much about their wedding plans before the big day. Both parties have been very adamant about not wanting to speak about their romantic lives to the press. So, we’ll just have to guess what’s in store for their wedding day, won’t we? We look into our crystal balls and we see a romantic outdoor ceremony and a very glam indoor reception for the pair, with Blunt being a fall or winter bride, and if she learned anything from her time spent as a resident fashionista on the set of The Devil Wears Prada, she’ll probably be donning a gown from one of the top celebrity designers in the business. VeraWang, or Monique Lhuillier maybe? What type of wedding do you think they’ll have? Post your guesses below!

Have a Celebrity Crash Your Wedding Party? (Maybe -- Here’s How!)

082509hotels

Everyone has a celebrity obsession, or two! Whether you’re a screaming fan or just a distant admirer, if you bumped into your favorite A-Lister on the street, it would probably make your day. (Go on, admit it!) What if you could have said run-in on your wedding day too. Wouldn’t it just be the icing on your (wedding) cake? Well, if you’re getting married in the New York City area this fantasy encounter might actually become your reality. New online hotel review site Oyster.com has all the dirt on where the hottest celebs stay and play in the city, and whom you might just bump into if you choose the right hotel.

For instance, if you’re a die-hard Gossip Girl fan (shut up -- adults love the show too!), throw your wedding or rehearsal dinner at The New York Palace. It’s one of the main shooting locations for the show and, and royalty, and other major celebrities are known to stay in the VIP towers there. If you’re hoping to spot the fabulous Angelina Jolie or chart-topper Cheryl Crow in the lobby, try your luck at The Essex House – one of the city’s top luxury hotels and celebrity hotspots. Sex and the City fans should head to the SoHo Grand Hotel for a potential Carrie spotting. What about TomKat you ask? The pair are said to be fans of The Carlyle (where they hosted a tea-party for daughter Suri once.)

Bridal Beauty: Hot Hair Flowers for Your Wedding

082509hairflowers3

For most brides-to-be, picking the right hairstyle for their wedding day is a huge decision – and often a very tough one to make. When newlywed Kristin Bauer (True Blood ) was trying to decide on the perfect updo for her rustic at-home wedding something interesting came to mind.

“I love my hair up, but guys seem to love it when a woman wears her hair down,” she said in a recent interview. To get to the bottom of her style dilemma, she decided to ask her then-fiance, musician Abri van Straten, what he would prefer.

“He said he liked my hair best the way I wore it at our engagement dinner,” says Bauer. “It was down with a flower, so that’s what I wore for our wedding.”

Good call, Kristin! We love the look too. (Kristin's hair-flower was designed by Folly) Here are three hair flowers for brides we love. This original, handmade bridal hair piece (on left) designed by twigs and honey is available made-to-order on Etsy. The simple gardenia piece you see here(top) from My Diva’s Closet is just so chic – and it can be yours for just $12.50 (what a bargain!). Oh, and check out Eliza from Jennifer Behr ($185) – isn’t she a beauty? The gorgeous hand-pressed orchid petals are made of silk charmeuse that’s hand-twisted onto a hairpin for easy style. It’s sure to be a show-stopper on your wedding day.

HOT TREND: Tutus for Your Flower Girls?

082409tutus

We’ve spotted a new trend we love. The tutu is back! And it’s popping up all over Hollywood – and not on the waists of heiresses and teenage reality TV stars, either, thankfully, but on celebrity toddlers instead. Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry’s daughter Nahla, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s daughter Violet, and Suri Cruise (she deserved her own bolding, no?) have all been spotted sporting the ultra-girly skirt while out and about with their celebrity moms.

So, will the trend be the next big thing for the little ones in your wedding? Milla Jovovich seems to think so. When she wed longtime love Paul W.S. Anderson last weekend in a gorgeous backyard ceremony, she put their 20-month-old daughter Ever Gabo in a ballerina tutu for the big event. We like the idea – a lot! – and expect to see a lot more of it hit the (wedding) aisles next season. Would you put a tutu on your flower girl? If so, you'll love these three we just found, and fell for. They're both totally sweet and affordable:

Cotton Candy Pink Tutu with Striped Bow from shoplissy’s shop on Etsy; $18.50.

Sassy Blues SEWN Tutu from mom2twogal’s shop on Etsy; $23.50. (Was featured on< I>The View and includes matching headband with removable flower clip.)

The Portrait Tutu from Just Kidd’n; $35.

True Blood Star Kristin Bauer Planned the Impossible – A Stress-Free and Affordable Dream Wedding – Find Out How!

082409_trueblood2

My dear fellow True Blood junkies, I have grrrrrreat news! As you know actress Kristin Bauer (vampire Pam from our favorite HBO show ever) wed South African singer Abri van Straten at her family’s farm in Racine, Wisconsin, in a gorgeous rustic ceremony on August 1st. She called in to share her wedding story with CWB.

Kristin and I chatted for over an hour about the ups and downs of wedding planning, and I was so moved by her kind spirit, and shocked at how little she cared for the usual wedding drama. (You go, girl!) Want to know how she pulled off the DIY wedding of her dreams with little fuss, or money? Read on!

The Worry-Free Plan
Kristin only wanted two wedding details to be perfect. Fun for everyone, and to ensure that the ceremony and reception remained a stress-free zone. After seriously considering eloping, she decided to think outside the box instead. Since her family reunion was already planned and to be held on her family’s beautiful 45-acre farm, she thought, why not get married there?

“I’ve been in four weddings, and they were really big and seemed overwhelming,” explains Kristin. “We made sure to plan our wedding in the easiest possible way.” By choosing to marry at her family reunion, Kristin didn’t have to worry about getting her family together, and to keep things intimate she and Abri decided not to invite any friends.

A Short Vendor List
Kristin has a big family, so opting to wed at her reunion (which was actually planned before she even met Abri) made it easy for her to avoid having to select and book vendors. The caterer and the tent were already booked, and there was no way she needed a planner to tell her how to celebrate with family. The photographer who shot the wedding also shot the reunion festivities. She skipped the florist too.

“I didn’t want to purchase flowers for eco-reasons,” says Kristin. “Plus, the fields there are filled with such beautiful, natural flowers. My sister went out that morning and picked the flowers we placed in giant buckets for the wedding. We were calling my sister the wedding planner.”

Kristin fell in love with the first and only dress she ever laid eyes on – a Grecian-style , white, silk chiffon gown with a pleated waist by Alberto Ferreti. She paired it with a silk chiffon veil pinned in the back, and wore her hair down with a flower -- Abri’s favorite.

The Sweet and Simple Ceremony
“I just wanted to get married in the field,” says Kristin, insisting there wasn’t a bridezilla bone in her body when it came to finalizing wedding plans. “We had them come and mow a big circle for the ceremony. We did a big hay ride with the kids up to the circle, and everyone just sat on hay bales around us.”

Thought it had rained that morning, by the time her family began to arrive for the sunset ceremony, the clouds had started to part, providing the perfect backdrop for the couple’s “I dos." The bride’s uncle gave her away, and the groom’s sister (who’s a judge) married them. Getting the chance to just hang out in her jeans in the hours leading up to the ceremony helped take any edge off. “I felt really calm and really happy,” says Kristin.

Milla Jovovich's Beautiful Backyard Wedding (Details Here!)

082409_milla_jovovivch_gettyWedding bells were ringing for longtime loves Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Anderson on Saturday, when they made it official at their Beverley Hills Home in front of 50 guests. We love what we’re hearing about this wedding. Here are the deets:

The Location: The couple’s backyard. They decorated their Spanish-style home with red and white flowers.
The Look: The bride chose from Temperley London’s Bridal Collection. Her pick? A long gown with a cut-out back, draping sleeves and gold embellishment. She wore her down with a god headband and short tulle veil.
The Rings: Matching vintage inspired 18K gold wedding bands (shown here) designed by Neil Lane. The idea was to compliment the bride’s 19th century vintage gold, pink, yellow, and white diamond engagement ring).
The Vibe: Guests sipped cocktails by the pool before the wedding began and live Cuban musicians played traditional drums to get the party started at the reception.

Tips on How to Look Like a Star on Camera from a Celebrity Wedding Videographer

082009video

Videographer Valerie Barnes is well known among the A-list crowd. She has a long list of celebrity clientèle who trust her behind the camera during their biggest moments -- Ugly Betty star Vanessa Williams hires Barnes to document her family events, she was the exclusive videographer at Jennifer Lopez’s 30th birthday party, and she filmed Stephon Marbury, Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional), and Fred Weller’s (In Plain Sight) weddings too. (To name a few!

With more than eight years under her belt, Barnes keeps busy traveling all over the world as the owner of an independent filmmaking and videography business. She’s currently on deck to shoot the upcoming dream wedding that Van Ngo and Eric Oberly won, courtesy of WeddingChannel.com and Us Weekly, but since the wedding isn’t quite here yet, we asked her to drop by CWB to share some insider tips to ensure your wedding video is hot. Check out what she had to say:

082009headshotCWB: What can a bride and groom do to enusre that they get the memorable footage they’re hoping for?
Barnes: Be natural and true to who you are. Video/film is about natural movement and emotion. You don't want the work to look and feel staged. You want it to reflect [everyone’s] energy and personality.

Have fun with the camera...don't be afraid to play to it -- be spontaneous! If you’re relaxed and enjoying the moment, then your bridal party will follow your lead. This will make for a much more interesting video piece.

That said, remember that not everyone feels comfy "saying something to the bride and groom" on camera. Therefore, don’t request that of your guests. If they want to speak, they can ask the videographer to record their message. This way it will be more heartfelt and personal.

CWB: What are some insider tricks for great video?
Barnes: For the ceremony, make sure that you have an area allotted (underneath the chuppah, maybe?) for the videographer to stand so they can get an clear shot of your faces. The more a videographer has to move around, the more obtrusive they can become.

Allow your videographer to put a wireless mic on your groom for the ceremony so that the vows can be heard clearly on tape. Even though you are not wearing one, your voice will be heard through the one he is wearing. You cannot rely on the venue or church’s sound system to give you a quality audio recording.

Rachel McAdams’ Time Traveler Wedding Dress -- Found!

081909timetraveler

By now we’re sure you’ve seen The Time Traveler’s Wife -- and loved it -- so our guess is next up you want to know where to find Rachel McAdams' gorgeous on-screen wedding dress. Well, we found the leading lady’s gown. Dubbed “Celia” by designer Lea Ann Belter Bridal, this A-line dress captures the, ahem, timeless romance embodied by McAdams character Clare Abshire in the movie. Clare is the loving wife of Henry DeTamble (Eric Bana), a man cursed with a genetic mutation that causes him to involuntarily travel through time -- often at the most inopportune moments. (Spoiler Alert: Abnormal genes or not, we’d have a hard time understanding why our husband disappeared on our wedding day forcing us to marry a future version of him as a stand-in!) But, we digress. Back to the gown: The dress is available in white and off white, with a variety of sash options (shown here in mocha). If you love it, we suggest you inquire now. As far as movie dress history goes. Once it’s on screen it’s hard to find on a rack -- so hurry, ladies!
