INTERVIEW EXCLUSIVE: Kendra Wilkinson's Wedding Planner Talks to Us About How She Made the Bride's Fairytale Wedding Dreams Come True
CWB: Rumor has it, Kendra was quite the bridezilla. True or false?
Hirsty: No, she really wasn’t. [Kendra and Hank] were absolutely wonderful. They were fun, and just really involved and very gracious. All she asked was for the girls to wear silver shoes -- that's it. She left the rest up to them. She was very concerned with her bridesmaids. She wanted them to feel good and look beautiful in their dresses.
Hirsty: Yes, it was. She wanted a fairytale wedding and that's what I tried to create for them. The setting was perfect. The playboy mansion looks like a castle, so you had the princess and her castle. It was beautiful.
CWB: Let's talk ceremony details! The setting was so dreamy.
Hirsty: The bridesmaids carried lavender and white flowers with crystal accents. Their bouquets were made of roses and orchids. Kendra wanted a long white aisle so we created a custom ramp for her to walk down. [To do so] we covered flooring with carpet and draping. It was lined with beautiful floral balls. Her dress was absolutely gorgeous. I was excited to see it come together she worked very closely with the designer.
CWB: What was the reception like? Tell us about the details!
Hirsty: It was a very fun setting. It was buffet style, and there were sushi tables, and a dessert bar. There were two different types of centerpieces, both mixed with lavender and white flowers and details: One had a box of flowers on the bottom, with silk table numbers. The other had roses and orchids draping down. The napkins were lavender with a white ribbon and a rhinestone buckle. The effect was very dreamy. We also had a lavender monogram on the white high-glossed dance floor, and above it two panels were playing a photomontage throughout the evening. Kendra chose chandeliers with feathers that hung above -- it sort of paid tribute to the peacocks at the playboy mansion. They were ostrich feathers.
CWB: Was the reception a wild party? Or more casual?
Hirsty: It was actually very traditional. I think most people would think wild and crazy but it was a very classy, fun wedding. Once the party got started we saw a lot of people dancing. [Kendra and Hank] had their grand entrance. He danced with his mom. They really wanted their guests just to have a great time.
CWB: What was your favorite wedding moment?
Hirsty My favorite part was seeing Kendra just before she walked down the aisle and seeing the look on her face. Seeing them looking at each other too. They were in their own world. He kept getting teary eyed every time he looked at her. They really are a fairytale couple. They care so much about each other and you can see that.
CWB: Before you go, can you share a trick with our brides on how to get this glamorous wedding style for less?
Hirsty: Use ribbons or rhinestone buckles with your flowers and centerpieces. Something that’s really interesting can really transform your tabletop. And, once you pick a theme, try not to pull too many other elements to complicate that. Really stay focused on the design elements that work.
