Jamie Lynn Spears Cancels Wedding

The celebrity gossip spotlight has once again moved away from Britney Spears and back on her ‘lil sis Jamie Lynn Spears. She has called off her upcoming wedding to fiancé Casey Aldridge, says Ok Magazine. The couple apparently is “still in love, living together and very happy,” but has no plans to marry any time soon.

Jamie Lynn, who starred previously in Nickelodeon’s “Zoey 101,” first caught the media’s attention (as well as mortified mothers of teenage girls worldwide) when she announced she was pregnant in December of 2007. She was just 16 at the time, Casey was 18. The two have had very public ups and downs but have been quietly raising daughter Maddie together at their home in Louisiana for the last few months.

This is a difficult situation to navigate in several ways. Unmarried couples successfully raise children all the time, but Jamie Lynn and Casey are so young. I’m not sure which side to take here. Could getting married help Jamie Lynn and Casey solidify their commitment to each other or is having Maddie enough? And even more directly, are they too young to be getting married in the first place?
