Pregnant Brides Growing Trend Beyond Hollywood

Remember that saying, “first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes so-and-so and the baby carriage?” Stars like Ashlee Simpson or Jessica Alba aren’t just setting the pregnant bridal trend – they’re actually part of a growing movement. According to the UK’s Daily Mail, pregnant brides are on the rise. Last year, “20,000 brides in Britain were pregnant on their wedding day, accounting for 10 per cent of all first-time brides under the age of 45,” the paper notes. According to the Office of National Statistics, the average age of pregnant brides is 25-29, with many choosing to say “I do” sometime between their first and second trimester.

Obviously this isn’t an ideal situation for everyone, but it doesn’t mean you should give up the idea of wearing a beautiful white gown just because your “something new” just happens to be your future son or daughter. California designer Jessica Iverson faced the same issue when she became pregnant right before her wedding day, and found herself frustrated with limited dress options.
