The blogosphere is buzzing today with news that a Valentine’s Day beach wedding is in the works for Oscar-winning actress
Jennifer Hudson and her fiancé, David Otunga.
The couple, both natives of Chicago, had been dating less than a year when Otunga presented Hudson with a 5-carat Neil Lane diamond sparkler last year on her 27th birthday. Otunga, a Harvard Law School-educated attorney, is best known for his stint on the reality show
I Love New York 2, during which he took on the nickname “Punk.”
Sources from the
National Enquirer (sketchy, we know!) reveal that Hudson’s good friend and talk show host extraordinaire,
Oprah Winfrey, has offered up her estates in Montecito, California and Maui, Hawaii as possible locations for the wedding. It’s been reported that Hudson wants an outdoor ceremony and is leaning toward a Hawaiian destination wedding.
The couple had planned on tying the knot late last year until tragedy struck Hudson’s family in the form of the much-publicized murders of her mother, brother and nephew in October.
After avoiding the public eye for several months following the loss of her family members, Hudson made an inspiring re-entry into the spotlight by singing the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLIII.
The National Enquirer reports that Otunga has been Hudson’s greatest support throughout the crisis and that the couple is ready to move past the pain of her loss toward wedded bliss.
However, some fans and bloggers are hinting that the couple should stall wedding plans for a few more months to allow more time to heal. Is it too soon for Hudson to deal with all the new challenges marriage brings while still healing from the trauma of the last couple months? Tell us what
