Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen Wed in Intimate Surprise Ceremony

Giselle_tom_brady_wedding_250 After denying one engagement rumor after the next, supermodel Gisele Bundchen and her longtime love, NFL quarterback Tom Brady, really pulled one over on the media, throwing a surprise wedding yesterday in Santa Monica, California.

According to Us Weekly, the pair made it official around 6pm at the St. Monica Catholic Church during a small ceremony. Guests gathered at their home in Brentwood, California to celebrate afterwards. The bride wore Dolce & Gabbana from head to toe. Her ivory lace gown was strapless and form-fitting and featured a trumpet skirt and scalloped edges. Her veil was floor length and decorated with handmade satin roses. Giselle’s three dogs also wore couture for the occasion – showing up in matching floral collars, also from Dolce & Gabbana.

Mostly family attended the ceremony, which began at dusk and ended with the group celebrating at the couples Brentwood home. Congrats you two! (More details to come ladies – of course!)

Cheap_flights_325 Cheapflights.com is putting celebrity-style destination weddings and honeymoons within reach for every bride, whether your budget is platinum or ATM. Their new Celebrity Travel on the Cheap tool is exactly the kind of celebrity imitation we crave.

In a move that’s sure to help you get over those recession blues, the site offers access to inexpensive getaways inspired by celebrity vacations and nuptials. Try a Parisian affair a la Eva Longoria Parker and Tony Parker's 2007 wedding weekend, or a blissful day at the beach in Turks and Caicos, where Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner shared intimate “I dos”. Other decadent escapes include Rome, London and California wine country – all for up to 60% less than the prices we’ve been seeing elsewhere. (If there was such thing as “the Best Buy of travel sites”, this site appears to be it!)

Each destination has an individual website packed with essential knowledge about climate, entry requirements, sites to see and more. Such a comprehensive and easy-to-navigate travel site is a rarity, and the services extend beyond the wedding day as well. Need to plan a sensual honeymoon or a wild bachelorette romp? Cheapflights.com provides other celebrity inspired packages too, from the sexy “Trysts and Hideaways” options to the Paris and Lindsay themed “Wild Child” haunts.

While we’d never advise you to imitate celebs every day (over-sized sunglasses and venti lattes aside), who hasn’t wished for A-list accommodations that weren’t way out of financial reach? The genie has answered people! Excuse me while I get back to booking my next trip to Rome, for half the price!

Red Carpet Ready Updos Made Easy

Pinup_kate_winslet_300 If you love watching celebrities strut their stuff as much as I do, you know that the classic updo is a staple on any red carpet. And, if you love weddings as much as I do, you know that these looks are popular among brides too! Stars pay big bucks to have professional stylists make these ‘dos appear effortless, so I went in search of a beauty bargain that could help you brides get the look for (a lot!) less.

This Pin-Up Girl Kit by RSESSION TOOLS (on sale for just $21.99 at rsessiontools.com) was designed to give a woman the tools she needs to emulate the hottest red-carpet looks around -- from home! Pick a blonde, black, or brown kit, and inside you’ll find step by instructions and supplies to help you achieve any one of these three popular styles: The Perfect Ponytail, The Super Chic Bun, or the Classic Beehive.

Tip: We encourage all brides to give any hair or beauty look a "test run" before their actual wedding. If you’re thinking of an updo for your big day consider this kit, or one that’s similar, so you can practice, practice, practice, until you perfect the look you’re going for. Once you do you’ll know exactly how to make an emergency hair touch up during the wedding, should a hair or pin get out of place. It’s a hairy good idea, don't you think?

Baltimore County Humane Society Throws Cat Wedding

Cats_married_humane_society_300 Luna and Winslow were married on Valentine’s Day of this year in a lavish ceremony at the Baltimore County Humane Society. The thing is, Luna was not the bride Winslow was originally supposed to marry, Comfrey was. Sounds like a huge deal right? Only if you’re human! You see Luna, Winslow, and Comfrey are all cats!

In their annual Valentine’s Day tradition, the staff at the humane society decided to throw a fabulous wedding fundraiser for two of their favorite furry friends. The morning of his wedding the groom, 10-month old Winslow, hung back in his decorated cage while his bride-to-be Comfrey received wedding gifts for the shelter during her bridal shower at a local PetSmart. Apparently Comfrey had such fun at her shower, when it came time for the big ceremony she refused to come out from underneath a cabinet.

Guests filled the ceremony location until it was standing room only as they waited for Winslow’s replacement-bride to be carried down the aisle. During the ceremony, the minister (I told you it was official!) announced that the crowd was there to witness “meowly catrimony” and the groom, in typical fashion, began to freak out. Luckily the planners got things back under control and the pair exchanged pink-charm collars and became husband and wife as guests cheered.

A local animal lover and food enthusiast donated a three-tiered cake for the reception and the newlyweds received gifts like paper towels, bleach, and cat litter. The Humane Society let Winslow and Comfrey (who was over her earlier fears) sleep in their “honeymoon suite”, A.K.A. separate but larger cages. After the ceremony the minister had this to say: "We'll see what the future brings. Like most brides and grooms, they behave themselves on their wedding day, and it goes downhill from there." Too cute!

Oscar Accessory Must Have for Bridesmaids: The Clutch

Oscars_clutches

At last night’s Academy Award ceremony, Hollywood’s leading ladies had one hot accessory in common – the clutch bag! Though they each made them their own, there wasn't a lady in line to walk the carpet who didn't have a funky clutch in hand.

From the left: The Wrestler star Evan Rachel Wood wore this sassy red clutch to add a pop of color to her ivory gown. (We see it matches your nail polish too, Evan -- nice touch!) Jessica Biel chose an ultra-glam jeweled black clutch from Prada to compliment her simple satin Prada gown. And, Penelope Cruz played princess for a night opting to carry a little gold Judith Leiber clutch to accompany her oversized ballroom gown.

Planning Tip: If you want to give your bridesmaids “options”, but aren’t quite willing to let them pick their own dresses, offering them the freedom to express themselves with accessories is a great alternative. It allows each bridesmaid the chance to make a little statement of her own, while still honoring the bride’s wish for gown consistency.

RUMOR ALERT: Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart Secretly Wed?

Ally McBeal alum and current star of ABC’s Brothers and Sisters, Calista Flockhart, and her long-time beau Harrison Ford are rumored to be on their way down the aisle soon. In fact, some insiders believe they may have already married under the radar and out of the public eye. (If so, nice one, you two!)

The New York Post’s Cindy Adams reports that witnesses in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where Ford owns an 800-acre ranch, recently spotted the happy couple applying for a marriage license and completing the necessary blood tests.

Flockhart and Ford have been dating since 2002 when they met at the Golden Globes. Flockhart and adopted son, Liam, moved into Ford’s Los Angeles hills home in 2003. Although the two became engaged in 2007 they have yet to publicly set a wedding date. The twice married and divorced Ford has been uncharacteristically outspoken about his love for Flockhart and we wish them the best. After all, they’ve been together over five years; by Hollywood standards they deserve a medal!

Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson Reveal Secret Engagement

Rachel_bilson_hayden_christensen_350 Not sure how on earth they managed to keep this under wraps for two months, but actors Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson (who hooked up on the set of Jumper in 2007) got engaged over the holidays and the gossip industry is just getting word now.

According to The New York Post’s Page Six the actress was spotted on a Virgin America flight on Monday. A fellow passenger overheard a man ask if she were married after noticing a little left hand bling, and Bilson responded, “I'm not married yet, just engaged. I know I look like I'm 15, but I'm actually 27.”

Major media sites are confirming that the two are planning to tie the knot. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more. Congrats you two!

Wedding Accessories: A Belt for Your Gown

Wedding_belts_accessory_580

Ok, so let’s look at the situation: You’re obsessed with those gorgeous crystal sashes Vera Wang has been showing this season, and you’ve even noticed that a lot of celebrities, like Kate Winslet, are hitting the red carpet this season in belted evening gowns. You love the look, but totally hate the price tag (what else is new?).

Instead of obsessing about something you can’t afford (not to mention, won’t wear again), I suggest you save some bucks and find a splashy belt that has a dual purpose: It should make you look great on your wedding day, but also offer infinite options for your wardrobe after the fact.

Option 1: The Romantic Bride
You definitely want something that delicate and dainty that fits the soft, feminine aesthetic you’re shooting for. This
Kenneth Jay Lane turquoise jeweled chain link belt ($79.89; BlueFly.com; ) has an Old Hollywood feel with a modern (as in discounted!) price tag.

Option 2: Modern Bride
Minimalist style pops when paired with a bright splash of color. Cara Accessories satin rose belt ($31.90; ShopNordstrom.com) comes in three modern colors and exemplifies the growing popularity of flower rouching at the hips and waist.

Option 3: Elegant Bride
You need something that’s totally glamorous, exudes a rich sophistication, but doest cost you a lot of money. This pink marquise-stone sash belt ($48.00; J.Crew) fits the bill and then some. It also comes in black and green and yellow and white, making it a pretty style option for both you and your bridesmaids.
