New “American Idol” Judge Kara DioGuardi Engaged

Okay, since I have zero shame, I’m just going to put it right out there: I’m a big HUGE American Idol fan. It’s awesomely-bad TV at it’s very best, if you ask me. (Though I was starting to get a little bored with the judges' increasingly blah evaluations...) When the new season premiered this week, they introduced new judge, Grammy-winning songwriter and producer, Kara DioGuardi, and I love her already. Oh yeah, (see how I go on-and-on about Idol?) and she recently got engaged, too – in her pajamas!

Her teacher-turned-builder boyfriend, Mike McCruddy, proposed to Kara last month on her 38th birthday while the pair relaxed by candlelight in Mexico.

"I was in, of course, my thermal smiley-face pajamas that one of my best friends gave me for Christmas," Kara told People.

McCruddy used a very strange segue-way to propose.

"He said, 'I have a question: Do you know where my shoes are?'" she told reporters at FOX's Television Critics Association after-party last Tuesday. When she said he didn’t know, he then said, “All right, well then will you marry me?"
