Jezebel Blogger Asks: “Should You Throw Your Ring in a Fight?”

You’re engaged. He loves you. You love him. BUT, now that you have a wedding to plan together and your stress-levels have risen, you’re fighting a lot more than usual. It’s not fun, but hey, it happens. And, when it does, many a woman has been known to hurl her ring at her soon to be hubby for dramatic effect. The thing is, even after you’ve kissed and made up (which nine times out of ten you will), that pricey ring you pretended not to care about as you flung it in spite, isn’t always so easy to locate post-fight.

On Jezebel, a guest-blogging bride-to-be named Tracie writes about tossing her engagement ring down the stairwell in her building during a huge falling out with her fiancé, and the panic that ensued.

“It took us what seemed like forever to find that (bleeping) ring,” Tracie blogs. “It was wedged between the floor and the molding on the wall a few flights below. That was the last time I took it off. After that, I stopped being so dramatic... and he stopped drinking whiskey.”

Now she wants to know if you’d do the same, and if so, are you willing to risk not ever having it again just to make your point? We say “no way” and Tracie regrets it big time.

“I felt like such a bitch after I did that, but was thankful that I threw it in an enclosed place and not out the window or something,” she writes. “My mom told me that her friend threw her engagement ring at her fiancé on a Queens street...and never saw it again. (They've been married for over 30 years now.)”
