Hot Celebrity Wedding Trends for 2009: Groom’s Cake

Cwb_millennium_falcon_cake_52_300 Yes, we often make fun of that god-awful armadillo groom’s cake from Steel Magnolias, but the reality is, this charming Southern tradition is back in style, thanks in part to stars like Black Eyed PeasTaboo who, according to InStyle, recently celebrated his nuptials with a black and white tattoo-inspired  groom’s cake.

Traditionally, this cake is given by a bride to a groom as a wedding gift, and is supposed to be a reflection of her future husband’s, likes, interest, profession, or hobby (we think this Star Wars groom’s cake from Ace of Cakes totally rocks!). While your wedding cake is supposed to be light and creamy, groom’s cake tends to be dark, rich, and fruity. Legend has it, that any single lady that takes a slice and puts it in a box underneath her pillow will dream about the man she’s supposed to marry.

(I don’t know about that, but I’m betting I’d probably have nightmares if it came in armadillo form with red velvet  guts cake.)
