Couple Leaves Wedding Gifts in Taxi Trunk After Wedding
"It was a spectacular wedding. Everybody was so happy and that just put a damper on it,” said Jim Fitzhenry, the groom’s father to the Daily News. "They are very, very upset. These are personal items."
There were actual checks, keepsakes like the cake-cutting-knife, and unopened wedding gifts inside the canister they forget to take with them. The couple didn’t sleep that night and the groom was so stressed out he considered postponing their honeymoon plans.
"I suspect the driver of this cab doesn't know it's in the back of his car," said Fitzhenry.
While the couple headed to Mexico with the hopes of not letting this spoil their honeymoon, their families are working with the city’s Taxi and Limousine Commission to try and track down the lost items.
"We have been in extensive touch with the family, and are, as we speak, employing the new GPS technology system to isolate this ride and find the lost property," Commissioner Matthew Daus told the press.
This just sucks all around! Though it’s always sad to hear about lost or stolen wedding gifts, we should point out that this wedding disaster was totally avoidable. The bride and groom should never be responsible for transporting their own gifts. Assign someone to handle this in advance and have a detailed plan for how your gifts will be transported after the wedding. Wedding etiquette experts all agree that bringing a gift to a wedding is not ideal. Instead, send it ahead of time to a close friend or family member. When it comes to monetary gifts, prearrange for someone to be in charge of transporting it to a safe place like a bank or a hotel safe.

but what the newly married couple do there????
