Bored at work counting down the hours until you can get your party on tonight? We understand, and we found something to keep you busy. US Weekly has put up a pretty extensive wedding album from The Hills stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt’s fake secret ceremony in Cabos San Lucas, Mexico on November 19th. Browse ‘em, if you can bear it!
Gina Glocksen of American Idol Season 6 fame is tying the knot on New Year’s Eve, reports the New York Post. The rocker plans to wed beau Joe Ruzicka, a high school science teacher (aw!), tonight!
Their story is pretty cute. According to the Post the pair met three years ago when Gina auditioned for a lead singer gig with Joe’s band.
Over 300 guests are scheduled to attend the big ceremony – many of her fellow Idol alum among them. Jordin Sparks and Haley Scarnato will sing, and the groom’s band Then Again will perform for guests as well. Congrats you two! (Check out Gina's MySpace page for more details and her latest work!)
We’re eagerly awaiting the release of the new bridal comedy Bride Wars (starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway), and since its January 9th release is a little over a week away we thought we’d get the gown war started early. Which dress would you rather wear?
Here at CWB we're huge fans of the Hells Bells blogging squad over at Jezebel. One of them, Sadie Stein, is a bride-to-be and this week she posed an interesting (and mildly controversial) bridal etiquette question to her readers: Is it tacky to wear a dress you bought for a wedding that never happened to the one you're planning now?
The traditional wedding etiquette rules say capital Y-E-S, but we admit, she has one heck of a point. After her first engagement was announced, her grandparents kindly offered to foot the bill for her dream gown as an early wedding gift. (A bridal budget godsend, we're sure!) She, of course, took them up on their very generous offer, and when the relationship failed, she wasn't about to break up with her gorgeous custom-made gown, too.
"When things unraveled, it was no hardship to return the ring, and I could deal with the pain of informing everyone and calling things off, but I saw absolutely no reason to taint my gown by association," Sadie writes.
And why should she? No matter what your zip code is, your wedding gown can and will cost a pretty penny, right? And, you bought it to wear after all. The blogger's future hubby is surprisingly okay with the plan, though she's not sure how happy her future in-laws will be. So why risk creating unnecessary drama surrounding her wedding day?
"Because it was so, so lovely. It was the dress I'd had in mind long before I'd met my first boyfriend; he'd never seen it; and, most of all, it had been made for me."
Judging from the flood of "go for it" and "it's about you" comments that followed her post, it's safe to say her fans concur -- as do we. (Though we probably wouldn't have showed our gown to the groom pre-wedding, though that's just us!) So, we say, Sadie, wear it, and wear it proud. Just don't forget to send us pics!
Santa brought America’s Next top Model Cycle 3 winner Eva Marcille some bling for Christmas. Her beau, House of Payne star Lance Gross asked for her hand in marriage on Christmas Eve in front of both their families. The happy couple broke their big news to Essence.com and shared some photos from their ultra glam engagement shoot.
While vacationing at the Big Bear Ski Resort in California’s San Bernandino Mountains, Lance suggested Eva open her gifts early. One of them was a pillow with a note that read: "Hope you like it. Give this pillow to the man you love and he will explain." Which he did, by using the pillow to drop to one knee and present his love with a 3.36-carat 1895 Pave Cartier engagement ring.
"I was in a complete state of shock!" the 24-year-old Los Angeles native says to ESSENCE.com. "I cried. It was totally unexpected. I'm still in shock. I could not even sleep because I was afraid that I might wake up from the most beautiful dream ever."
The gorgeous pair met a year and a half ago at a TV audition, and have been spotted working the red-carpet together nonstop ever since. The bride-to-be recently landed a role on the cast of The Young and The Restless.
The couple’s engagement photos are so glamorous they look like a high-fashion magazine spread. With celebrity weddings constantly upping the ante, your engagement photo style is definitely a good way to set yourselves apart. (Well done, Lance and Eva – we’re impressed!)
The couple’s obvious passion for one another really comes through in these sexy photos, yet they’re still classy. Want to upgrade your engagement shoot? Take a cue from this Hollywood hot couple and consider taking a bold risk instead of relying on the classic prom pose.
The bad news is you may have to look to another salon or department store to outfit you and your bridal party. The good news is, if you just got engaged, you may still have a chance to snag a celebrity bridal designer gown at a steeply discounted price.
According to WWD, Saks Fifth Avenue is closing all but two if its bridal salons by the end of December and deeply discounting gowns from celebrity designers like Monique Lhullier, Oscar de la Renta, and Jenny Packham. The salons in New York City and Los Angeles will remain in operation, while all other stores will only take orders on new gowns through the end of 2008. If you’ve ever wanted to look like a star on your wedding day, now is the time to buy the dress of your dreams without blowing your budget.
‘Tis the season for weddings, engagements and engagement rumors! While New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and supermodel Giselle Bündchen say “no way” to engagement reports, Actress Zooey Deschanel reportedly said “yes” to her boyfriend of one year, Death Cab for Cutie frontman, Ben Gibbard.
Usmagazine.com reports that a source close to the couple says the Yes Man star is "so thrilled." "Zooey was swept off her feet, and Ben is so excited."
Meanwhile, it looks like former Cheers star Woody Harrelson was finally ready to make an honest woman out of his girlfriend of 20 years, Laura Louie. The couple tied the knot in Hawaii on Sunday in front of their three daughters and celebrity guests, including Owen Wilson, Sean Penn, and Alanis Morisette.
How does an A-list star pull off a secret wedding? According to actress Scarlett Johansson, it means a summer full of careful planning. In an interview with the The Los Angeles Times, Johansson says she took a very hands-on approach.
"It was my mission to have a moment of privacy, to do something for myself," she says of her September wedding to fellow actor Ryan Reynolds at the Clayoquot Wilderness Resort in Tofino, British Columbia . "I was happy with the results of that." Johansson was so careful, she managed to keep the wedding news under wraps for several days and hid her wedding photos away from the prying eyes of press and paparazzi.
Fortunately for us, we have a pretty good idea of what Scarlett’s wedding was like thanks to the resort's complete breakdown of their wedding packages. If you're looking for an upscale eco-friendly location for your wedding day, click on the link above for more details!
Ahh, romantic Christmas wedding proposals. It brings to mind those idealized moments from movies like Miracle on 34th Street and It’s A Wonderful Life where the star sweeps his sweetie up his arms and plants a heart-stopping kiss on her lips before they run off to open Christmas presents or to live happily ever after – whichever comes first. Unfortunately, real life doesn’t quite work that way, as we discovered this weekend while perusing CNN.com. Apparently, a Massapequa, New York man decided to pop the question by (wait for it) writing his proposal on the snowy cars parked in front his future mother-in-law’s drive-way. Now, we agree this was pretty original, and yes, the woman accepted, but on the romantic scale, this idea kind of crashes and burns. We’re not saying you need to go out and build and mammoth igloo like Seal did for Heidi Klum when he proposed, but geez, put a little thought into it. After all, snow melts, pictures may fade, but your engagement story will live on forever as it’s passed down from your children to your grandchildren.
This past weekend was a time of love and celebration for newlyweds Jessica Alba and Cash Warren, who hosted a formal wedding reception on Friday at their newly remodeled Beverly Hills home. The couple wed on May 19th at the Beverley Hills courthouse this past spring, so the weekend’s events were to “celebrate their love and commitment to each other”, a guest told Us Weekly.
It was the first time the couple’s families were together to toast their union and guests say the evening was “very romantic”. Both Jessica and Cash gave tributes to each other (apparently Cash’s speech was a real tear-jerker!) and sources say they were grinning from ear to ear throughout the night. After the couple professed their joy for having found happiness in one another, the new parents passed the microphones over to their father who also addresses their guests. (6-month old daughter, Honor, wore a gray dress that was an exact match to her mom’s – complete with angel wings!)
"Jessica is so excited," says a source to Us. "This is such a happy time in their lives."
Actress and fellow newlywedRoselyn Sanchez was among the celeb friends on Jessica and Cash’s intimate guest list.
