swirlBrides In The Newsswirl

Future Bride Seeks Super Bowl Groom

Statscut_01

Move over Match.com -- a single woman in New York City is raising funds to buy herself a Super Bowl TV ad to find a husband. The only flaw in her plan is she needs to raise $3 million -- and fast.

Amy Borkowsky says she was "born single" in New York City, has had enough, and is determined to find "The One". Amy started a website asking for donations toward her goal of $3 million and offers a glimpse into her single life.

The site includes a bio of the writer/comedian including her age (somewhere between "Carrie and Samantha"), her love life (she's had 19 passes this season), and her ideal man requirements ("a big brain, a good heart and a really annoying mother").

The hopeful bride decided the Super Bowl would be the best place to advertise herself due to a large male audience.

"Dating is a numbers game," she tells the New York Post. "I need to reach a large pool of guys."

Would you advertise yourself during the Super Bowl? Or did Amy totally fumble?

Hey everyone. Interesting idea for a blog. I have been checking out a lot of blogs and forums recently. Some are really informative some are entertaining and some are a real crack up. I've got to admit it, good job on this blog, I'll be sure to look in again real soon.

The words 'desperate housewives' come to mind. I love her idea though - Innovative should we say! And I do wish her the best of luck.

Hello, this is Amy from SuperBowlSingleGirl.com -- the story on this site skipped one key detail : if I don't raise enough for my spot, ALL THE MONEY GOES TO THE UNITED WAY. Visit the donation page, and in big yellow type I say, DONATE TO YOUR FAVORITE CHARITY before giving to my Super Bowl fund. I just thought this would be a creative way to look for love! Anyway, thanks for taking the time to comment, even without knowing this fact, and I wish you all the very best in love and in life!

You're too intent
It's fine that you want to meet someone, but you don't want to be so obvious about it. "Men can sense desperation," warns psychotherapist Katherine Woodward Thomas, author of Calling in "The One." "Most guys will steer clear of a girl they think is dying for a boyfriend." In addition, being on a man-finding mission can make you self-conscious. "You become so fixated on how you look and act that you can't enjoy yourself," says Findling. The goal should be to have fun, not meet guys.

What you need to do is get on your knees and ask God to send you the right man or a desent man. Try it it works. It doesn't take $3Million to do this. Go to church.

I agree with Loni! She IS in Manhattan! come on and look around! stop being so picky, and no one is perfect, stop "passing" because of flaws. The flaw lies with you and you alone!

First I must say that to date 19 men in one year is just ridiculous. She's got to be doing something wrong (possibly the fact that she is so insanely desperate?)But whatever, to each his own. If she wants to go on national television and show everyone just how desperate she is then more power to her. the part i think is so sick is that she is asking people for donations. i mean seriously, arent there not at least 3 million other less selfish ways that 3 million dollars could be spent? especially with the economy the way it is, how could someone be so selfish as to ask for people to help her come up with that much money to meet a guy! She lives in Manhattan, if she cant get a guy there an ad during the superbowl isnt gunna help.

I agree with my fellow writers, surely her search for a man could not have been so hopeless and was she really searching in the right place. Coming to think of it you don't go searching for a man, the man searches for you. I found my Mr. Wright by deciding to stop searching and I couldn't have been more happy. However if this is what floats her boat then I guess she should go ahead. She needs to do something about her appearance though if she wants to find a decent man.

First, guys that watch football are most likely NOT going to know who Carrie & Samantha are. Second, should you really advertise that you've "passed" 19 times this "season?" I don't even know what that means really, but I'm fairly certain that the comment alone would be a turn-off for a potential Mr. Right. Whatever money is raised should be given to charity.

Geeze lady, what the hell is wrong with you? Do you really think we are all that stupid to believe your reason for raising $3million dollars? You are desperate for any kind of attention more than you are desperate for a man! This is worse than any money making scam I have ever heard of. People work way to hard for their money & its hard enough to support ourselves, let alone your desperation to be noticed and have a prostitution convention at your house. Because thats all your going to get anyways, Drunk sloppy football fans calling you for a quickie!! GET A LIFE!!!

Can we say SCAM??? Come on, even if she does raise the 3Mil do you really think she's going to waste it on a 15 second spot during the super bowl? NOPE...She's going to go blow everyone else's hard earned money that they were dumb enough to hand over to a complete stranger, on herself. As someone who worked their tush off to put themself through college and now a masters program in order to be sucessful in life, because no one else would help, this makes me sick!!!

Seriously girl... What is your problem. I can't believe you are that desperate... you should use the money for a makeover instead. You are just going to the wrong locations to meet men... Try the dog park, or a kids baseball or softball game, there are plenty of single men there, try a book store, you'd be suprised who you can meet there.
