Attention Socially-Conscious Brides: A-List Hawaii Hotel Offers Sustainable Wedding Package

Fourseasons_hualalai

Hawai’i’s romantic Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is known for its overwhelmingly picturesque property and celebrity draw (Hilary Swank and Julia Roberts have stayed there), and they’re now announcing a new Sustainable Nuptials Package for the bride who wants to give back without sacrificing style.

The package goes for $10,050 and includes intimate one-on-one planning with a wedding expert from the resort who will help you plan a socially responsible wedding with style that fits your personality. What exactly makes the wedding package so socially conscious, you ask? Some perks include: eco-expert planner, choice of outdoor wedding location before sunset to save on electricity, carbon credit to offset travel for the bride and groom and up to 25 guests, a solo acoustic musician, and a consultation with a florist who can assist you with selecting locally grown flowers. I’ve seen a lot of so-called “eco-friendly” wedding packages come across my desk, but this is one of the first I’ve seen that gives the couple so many earth-loving options while keeping elegance and style in mind. (They even ask that, post-wedding, you let them donate your potted plants or flowers to local hospitals and elderly care centers.) Think of it as completing the circle of love people!

Visit the resort’s site for more details.

Survivor: China Couple Wins Dream Wedding Worth $80,000

Survivorchinacouple Survivor China contestants Jaime Dugan and Erik Huffman lost out on the big win while on the show, but they fell in love because of it and now victory is theirs this time around. The happy couple has won an $80,000 wedding courtesy of the Charleston Area Convention Visitor’s Bureau in South Carolina, reports People.com.

The pair grew up only 25 miles apart in South Carolina so having their dream wedding close to home will be an added treat. Guests can mark their calendars for April 4, 2009, when the couple plan to wed. Over 200 of their friends and family are expected to attend, including some of your favorite survivor castmates.

"The cast is on the guest list because they were there every step of the way," Dugan tells the magazine. "[Winner] Todd Herzog has already called us. He's stoked and he's coming. Peih-Gee [Law], Sherea [Lloyd] and Frosti [Zernow], they've already booked flights. I think we're going to have Leslie [Nease] read at the ceremony."

In other bridal news: We recently saw Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony renew their wedding vows in Las Vegas and now Soleil Moon Frye, the actress who played Punky Brewster, and her husband of 10 years Jason Goldberg renewed their vows. The couple settled on an intimate ceremony in their Hollywood Hills home with their two daughters Poet and Jagger.

“Besides the days my children were born, and my first wedding, it was the best night of my life," Soleil told PEOPLE.

Soleil wore a gown from Les Habitudes and chose a “home-cooked feast” including brisket and pasta along with a white cake with chocolate filling.

Celeb friends including Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher and Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane were on hand to celebrate.

As wedding favors, the eco-friendly couple gave each guest a tree to plant.

Engagement Buzz Surrounding Nicole and Joel and Reese and Jake

Illo_hollywood_rumor_mill_new Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have been busy being great parents to their baby girl Harlow these past few months, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be ringing wedding bells soon. Although Nicole recently said their priority right now is their family, the new mom was overheard saying how she hopes Joel will propose soon and would ultimately like it to happen after the New Year, a source told Us Weekly.

Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal have been together for a year this Halloween and what would be better than an engagement to celebrate? (Jake recently moved into Reese’s L.A. pad and is helping raise her two kids with ex-hubby Ryan Phillippe) Perhaps it’s a bit premature but a source tells Us Weekly that “things are progressing toward marriage” and “it’s just a matter of time.”

So for those of you keeping a close watch on celebrity romances as the official engagement season (Thanksgiving to Valentine’s Day) approaches, here’s a recap. We’re anticipating engagements from: Nicole and Joel, Reese and Jake, Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo, Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush, and Dr. Meredith Grey and Dr. Derek Shepherd (okay I know it’s only a TV romance, but if you’re a true Grey’s fan, it might as well be your BFF getting married!).

Hello Kitty Wedding Gowns For the Youthful Bride!!??!!

Hellokitty_dresses_mariah Here’s something you don’t see every day. An animated celebrity! Sanrio's popular Hello Kitty character gets more press than some of your favorite B and C-list stars. Check out these handmade Hello Kitty wedding gowns. Not my cup of tea for sure, but I’m wondering if super Hello Kitty fan Mariah Carey knew about these when she was planning her secret wedding with Nick Cannon earlier this year. I somehow doubt she could have resisted the pink one.

At 4,000 bucks a pop, I doubt these “unique” gowns will be a hot ticket for today’s bride-to-be, but it’s not too late for other celebrity Hello Kitty devotees (like Rihanna and Cameron Diaz) to order one for their weddings. Just kidding! Even these super-stylish feline’s fans won’t go for this look. If you just had to have a little Hello Kitty in your wedding, I guess the bouquet could work. (Just don’t expect a long line for your bouquet toss!) What was this designer thinking!?!? Love it or hate it? You tell us!

Mena Suvari Dishes On Italian Wedding Plans

Menasuvaristill Looks like Italy will be the destination for yet another celebrity wedding. We already know that Mena Suvari is planning on designing her own wedding dress for her upcoming nuptials and now she’s dishing on her “sometime in 2010” wedding to music producer-promoter Simone Sestito.

Earlier this month Beverly Mitchell celebrated her wedding in Italy with a celeb filled guest list and it looks like Suvari may do the same.

It's going to be "a nice, big traditional Italian wedding," Suvari told PEOPLE.

The couple first traveled to Italy a few weeks after they started dating and fell in love with historical sites. Suvari and Sestito are heading back to Italy on Thursday to scout locations for their ceremony. "We were there in August, and everything was closed in August, so we want to look at a lot of cathedrals and find a place," the bride-to-be said.

Rethinking Your Wedding Cocktails

Bottles They say presentation is everything, so why is it then that most couples don't think outside of the champagne glass? When it comes to serving cocktails at your reception, cool and creative packaging definitely goes a long way. Case in point: Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson played up their Alice in Wonderland theme by serving tequila shooters in these quaint little glass bottles ($18.96-$28.80, www.save-on-crafts.com).

We love that idea, but if you're looking for something a bit more dramatic, there's Horchow's Conical Base Stemware ($65-$85) that creates automatic height with any of your table settings.

Are you a modern bride who can't imagine setting aside her traditional glassware? Dive into it instead! Master mixologists are creating everything from edible fruit caviar to gourmet jello shots in the hopes of making your wedding day an event no one will ever forget. Cheers!

Future Bride Seeks Super Bowl Groom

Statscut_01

Move over Match.com -- a single woman in New York City is raising funds to buy herself a Super Bowl TV ad to find a husband. The only flaw in her plan is she needs to raise $3 million -- and fast.

Amy Borkowsky says she was "born single" in New York City, has had enough, and is determined to find "The One". Amy started a website asking for donations toward her goal of $3 million and offers a glimpse into her single life.

The site includes a bio of the writer/comedian including her age (somewhere between "Carrie and Samantha"), her love life (she's had 19 passes this season), and her ideal man requirements ("a big brain, a good heart and a really annoying mother").

The hopeful bride decided the Super Bowl would be the best place to advertise herself due to a large male audience.

"Dating is a numbers game," she tells the New York Post. "I need to reach a large pool of guys."

Would you advertise yourself during the Super Bowl? Or did Amy totally fumble?

Bird-Brained Fashion Options

Pr_monique_2

Talk about fierce! We’re not saying designer Monique Lhuillier was inspired by a certain Project Runway winner from Season 4,  but this show-stopping Evita dress with champagne peacock feathers she featured during Bridal Fashion Week makes us think she and Christian Siriano might possibly be birds of a feather. We know the diminutive diva is hard at work on a maternity line right now (though we spotted him out and about at a fashion show during Spa Week recently), but would he ever be brave enough to try his hand at bridal design?

Wedding Bells for Brangelina?

Brangelina_2 You know the rhyme: First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in the baby carriage? The Brangelina love story doesn’t quite follow the verse.

Changeling star, Angelina Jolie is finally hinting that marriage might be in the cards for her and her partner, Brad Pitt.

"We've done everything the wrong way around, but sooner or later the children will ask, you know, they watch films and ask questions," Angelina said. "They want to know why Shrek and Fiona got married and we haven't."

The Jolie-Pitts (who met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and eventually fell in love) have previously stated they weren’t going to wed until gay marriage was legalized,  but with California and a handful of other states giving it the green light, could wedding bells be in the near future? Well, we know Brad and Angelina have a tough time saying no to their kids…
