US Olympic Track Star’s “Giant” Engagement
While the New York Giants gear up for a new (and hopefully just as successful!) season, starting cornerback Aaron Ross is a little distracted. His fiancée, American track-star Sanya Richards, competed in her 400m race Tuesday night in Beijing and won the bronze medal.
To make up for missing the Olympics, Aaron made sure that all of Sanya’s races are shown on the television during the Giants’ team meetings at their training camp in upstate New York. The two were even featured in an NBC promo for the Olympics, showing the two racing and Sanya zipping past Aaron. (Probably the coolest engagement-shoot ever!) He may have a Superbowl ring but Aaron's lovely lady has some pretty special jewelry too -- be sure to look for the bullet necklace she wears around her neck. (A gift from her mother who thinks she's faster than a speeding bullet.)
Aaron and Sanya met while participating in the University of Texas athletic program and have been dating since 2003. Aaron’s mother, Cheryl Ross, said that Sanya and Aaron make such a good couple because they know how to support each other. "They're so close. They encourage one another. They remind each other that good things come to those who wait,” she said. Their patience has really paid off recently, with Aaron’s Super Bowl title, Sanya’s Olympic success, and a super-sized proposal added to the mix.
So where did Aaron propose? Giants’ Stadium of course! His proposal was broadcasted on national television before the December 15 Giants game against the Washington Redskins.
If this A-list proposal is an indicator of what their wedding ceremony will be like, expect only the best from Sanya and Aaron. Congrats you two!
