How Nick Cannon Proposed (Twice!) to Mariah Carey
Newlyweds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon just can't get enough of the press coverage surrounding their whirlwind courtship and marriage. The divalicious star is Elle magazine's latest cover girl, and reveals in the new August issue how her honey proposed not once, but twice in an attempt to sweep her off her feet.
According to Carey, the first time was more like something out of a fairytale. Cannon popped the question while the two were sharing a romantic moment on the rooftop of her Manhattan digs. The actor/ comedian hid her 17-carat diamond engagement bling inside a candy pop ring .
"They've been calling me Cinderella since I first started out," said Carey. "Most people would think, Okay, please! This doesn't happen in real life."
Apparently, her new hubby can be pretty persistent, because a few days later he outdid his first effort: "He sort of kidnapped me and took me on a helicopter ride," she says. "Then he re-proposed."
