Hollywood's Most Expensive Celebrity Weddings

Salma_tomkat Rumor has it Salma Hayek is about to have a 3.5 million dollar wedding day, complete with a 500K dress and flowers worth a million dollars. That may sound like a lot, but in Hollywood there's apparently always someone ready to outspend you. So how much do most A-list marriages cost these days? We did some digging and found a Forbes list of the most expensive Hollywood weddings to date:

Catherine Zeta-Jones & Michael Douglas $1.5 Million
This famous couple wed at New York's Plaza Hotel in 2000 where only guest with special hologram embedded invitations could enter. (Sean Connery and Jack Nicholson made the cut.) The bride wowed her guest in a Christian Lacroix gown with antique Chantilly lace, and a tiara. Everything was a splurge for this pair: They had Grammy winner Bonnie Tyler perform, and take a look at her marquis cut engagement ring.

Christina Aguilera & Jordan Bratman $2 million
It was a wine-country wedding for this entertainment industry power couple. The pop diva married the music executive at the Napa Valley's Staglin Family Vineyard. Guests enjoyed a winter-themed ceremony in a tent decorated with crystals, silver-drapery, and white roses. Check out their wedding photos.

Katie Holmes & Tom Cruise $2 million
The couple made international headlines in November 2006 when they became man and wife in a lavish ceremony at Italy's 15th-century Odescalchi Castle outside Rome. Holmes ivory, silk, off-the shoulder gown was personally designed by Giorgio Armani. Celebrity photographer, and WeddingChannel.com expert Robert Evans shot their wedding.

Liza Minnelli & David Guest $3.5 Million
The Oscar winning actress and her then producer beau wed in New York City's Marble Collegiate Church in an over-the-top ceremony where Michael Jackson served as the best man and Elizabeth Taylor stepped in as the maid of honor. Tony Bennett entertained their very famous guests, backed by a 60-piece orchestra.

BEST OF THE REST
Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban $250,000
Mariah Carey & Tommy Mottola $500,000
David Beckham & Victoria Beckham $800,000
Brad Pitt & Jennifer Aniston $1 million

What irritates me the most about people commenting on "Why the hell would you spend so much money on a wedding" is plainly this. It's not the brides fault that all of the flowers that she wants are so expensive. And it's not her fault that everything "Wedding" costs so much money. Some vendors are charging fees that seem like "grand theft". But at the same time, you want the flowers, the cake, the beautiful lace or satin gown, the amazing pictures, the great food, the beautiful decor, and a rocking band or dj. Brides get a bad rap for being over-indulged, wedding possessed, selfish and self-centered human beings with no concern for their future passed this one day. I'm sure no one would complain if an all-out, dream come true wedding cost as much as a barbeque in your moms backyard. At the end of the day, WEDDINGS ARE EXPENSIVE so just get over it. Either you save up to have your dream day or dont do it at all, because unless you have the most important things for your day, you will find something about it that you wont be happy with, which would overshadow the joy of the reason you are getting married in the first place. So what I'm trying to say is give brides a break, it's not their fault...and either get everything that you want (within your budget), or DONT DO IT...go to the justice of the peace and have a great honeymoon, or buy that sofa you wanted...lol

I agree with most of the comments made earlier. I think that a couple, most often the bride, dreams of this day for so long and so you should have the wedding of your dreams. Yes you have to keep your life after the wedding in mind and you don't want to compromise your life after the wedding for one day but that one day is ultra important and the biggest celebration you'll probably have in your whole life. Life is short so live it up and celebrate in a big and fabulous way is my motto. Most brides come in thinking they can stick within a budget and more than half I'm sure end up going over the budget anyway because of the high cost of everything wedding these days!

It's funny how people say they wouldnt spend that amount of money on a wedding. Then again they never had that amount of money to spend in the first place so they wouldnt be able to imagine how you could spend that much money on a wedding. I do agree that today it seems as if people (celebrities or not) put more emphasis on the wedding than the marriage. But at the end of the day we are all adults who make our own decisions. No, you should not go into debt for a wedding because there is life afterward. However, it is your wedding day, if you have it to spend, I say go all out and get everything you always dreamed of, whether that is an average american wedding at $28,000 or an extravaganza at $2 million. Do what makes you happy, but be aware of your finances and realize that there is life after the wedding. And also know that you get what you pay for...

Quite a few people on the list are no longer married. I think many people place too much emphasis on the wedding and not enough emphasis on the marriage.

I could not imagine spending that much money on my wedding. I guess if you have the money, that is one thing. But I am not about to go into debt to pay for a wedding. My goal is to have the wedding that I want, but for the cheapest price possible.

I think any bride, celebrity or not, should have the wedding day she dreams about. Many people get caught up in the amounts of money spent, and I personally think expensive and fashionable is the only way to go because it makes a signature statement.
