NFL star Tom Brady is the latest GQ cover guy, and inside the December issue he reflects on he and now-wife Gisele Bundchen’s decision to wed in a small private ceremony just two months after getting engaged.
“We planned it in like ten days, and it was perfect,” he tells the mag. "We went back to the house and I barbecued aged New York strips. We had champagne, a cake, some ice cream. It was a great night. I think you always have this idea that weddings need to be 200 people and you invite everybody, and I'm all for it if people want to do that, but I think there was really something special about just having our parents there."
Only their parents and his young son (with actress Bridget Moynahan) were present at their nuptials, though the pair threw a second (and bigger!) wedding in the bride’s native country, Costa Rica, at their private residence. Forty people attended, all mostly family members of the bride and groom.
"The thing about it is, the day's for you," said Brady. "It's nothing personal against anybody, but it's not about them. It's about what you and your wife need for that day."
We hear ya’ Tom! Do you ladies agree? Is a quickie ceremony something you’d regret later?
When the paparazzi first started meddling in celebrity’s love lives full-time it was all about snooping in their trash cans for hints about the details of their romantic vacations while they were dating, then hanging from trees to get forbidden wedding photos when they finally took the plunged. But lately two stars don’t even have to be officially dating to get slammed with questions about being engaged! What has celebrity stalking come to? The paps have taken something as wonderful as getting engaged to someone you love and turned it into an annoying and constant inquiry that makes saying “yes” almost no fun. Case in point: Check out this video that shows New Moon star Kristen Stewart being swarmed by aggressive press in Europe demanding to know if the fact that she was spotted holding hands with co-star and rumored love interest Robert Pattinson meant they were engaged. Really guys? That’s all it takes to be engaged nowadays? Forget the ring altogether, huh? Sickening!
Reality TV star Melissa Rycroft (of Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor fame) headed to Vegas with fiance Tye Strickland over the weekend for a little joint bachelor and bachelorette party fun. The lovebirds and their guests stayed in the luxurious Siena suite at The Palazzo, reports Extra TV. I love the idea of a fun-filled Vegas party weekend to say farewell to single life, but you have to know how to do it right. The bride and groom sure seemed to -- taking on the town in style. The ladies joined Rycroft for the Jersey Boys show at the Palazzo, while the men followed the groom to see Phantom – Las Vegas Spectacular. That evening the girls partied hard at the Palazzo’s LAVO club, where they sat at a table on the dance floor, while the guys made their way to TAO (a Paris Hilton favorite) in The Venetian, where they hung-out VIP style until the club closed. These hard-partying lovebirds plan to make it official on December 12th.
Would you head to Sin City for your bachelorette party? If so, where would you do? Spill it below!
We just got this awesome video in and I’m so excited to share it! Remember our Dream Wedding Contest winners Van and Eric? We already showed you their fabulous fall wedding, and now we have some behind-the-scenes footage to share too. (A very special thanks to the awesome videographer Michael Eller of Monachetti!)
As much as I love to gawk at all the amazing gowns, flowers, and venues that you’ll see in an A-list wedding affair, sometimes it’s the little details the celebrities choose that prove to be the real standouts. Here are three of my favorite celebrity wedding stationery finds from 2009, and where to find a similar look for your own special day.
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s Wedding Menu
Purple-loving bride Khloe Kardashian chose to use a lavender damask print for her wedding menus, which were designed by Lehr and Black. The pattern gives it a classic, more traditional feel, but the color really makes it ultra feminine and suggestive of a fairy tale event – which is exactly what the happy couple wanted. For a similar look try the Miss Haversham collection from Mr. Boddington’s Studio, shown here in purple, but available in lots of other fabulous colors and combos.
Salma and Francois-Henri Pinault’s Wedding Menu
Nothing about Salma Hayek’s Venice wedding weekend was ordinary – masquerade ball anyone? So, the couple’s wedding menus (also a Lehr and Black creation) were no exception. They chose round die cut menus with black and gold hot stamping. I’m all about round menus (they really standout on the tables and work well with most table setting décor), and I just found a great design on Etsy that’s equally stunning, and very similar. These 8-inch round damask menus are from jamiekonet’s shop, so if you like them too, pay her a visit for pricing and more details.
Fergie and Josh’s Caricature Inserts
When Fergie married Josh Duhamel in a lavish Vineyard ceremony, they chose to give out invites at the end of the wedding instead, as favors, in order to keep their special day private and paparazzi free. Inside their invites guests found a copy of this caricature of the couple -- also designed by Lehr and Black. (To say they’re a celebrity favorite would be an understatement -- they’re more like the premiere celebrity stationery designers!) Cute right? To get your own made, try paying Caricature King a visit to search for an artist and see samples of other wedding caricatures they’ve done.

When reality TV star Khloe Kardashian married L.A. Lakers player Lamar Odom just a few weeks after they met, her gorgeous fall wedding became the number one entertainment gossip news headline.
Her controversial decision to wed her dream guy so soon was feverishly debated all over TV and the web, so when it was revealed that their wedding footage would be aired in a 2-hour special on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, I just knew America would tune in, eye glued. The show, which aired on Sunday evening, broke records for E! when over 3 million viewers tuned in to see Kardashian and Odom reveal the shocking news to her family and then say “I do” just one week later.
Who needs a videographer when you’ve got a TV crew, right? Well, it certainly gave the happy newlyweds a chance to relive the memories, and the bride a chance to see all the behind the scenes reaction she wasn’t’ there for. What was that like? Kardashian took to her blog to share her reaction.
“It was both incredible and stressful reliving those crazy two weeks,” she blogged. “With the last minute wedding planning, and dealing with the different reactions of my family members --
it was difficult enough the first time around! LOL.”
Fans watched in shock as Khloe refused to tell her stepdad Bruce Jenner the news even after the planning had begun. Does she regret not clueing in dear ol’ dad? Yup!
“ My least favorite part was the whole Bruce issue -- how he found out and how I handled it. My emotions were so high and I was so defensive. At the time, I felt that Lamar and I were being attacked from every which way, and Bruce was just a bystander that spoke up during a time that I was so sick of hearing it. He didn't deserve to be treated that way. I'm grateful for having it taped because I got to see my actions and learn from them. I have apologized to Bruce hundreds of times and we are completely fine, but reliving that wasn't fun and it made me feel guilty all over again.”
We’re glad things are all good now for the two lovebirds. So good in fact, that the new Mrs. Odom has recently admitted to gaining a few post-wedding pounds.
"I stopped my QuickTrim diet for a little bit around the time I met Lamar," she tells E! News. "I was so in love, and I was at my perfect weight, and I didn't want to do it anymore. Since marriage, I've gained about five pounds."
We say who cares, as long as they’re happy. She looked amazing at her wedding, didn’t she? Did you tune in? Which part of the wedding was your favorite? (We loved the many shades or purple, and that gorgeous damask and rose cake!) For more wedding photos from their personal collection, check out her blog!
On Sunday evening former The Practice star Marla Sokoloff wed love Alec Puro (a drummer for the band Deadsy) in Beverley Hills at hotspot Il Cielo, a popular Italian restaurant. Sokoloff arrived looking absolutely beautiful in the strapless Amsale Tyler dress with a black sash, holding a bouquet of all-white flowers, and accompanied by five bridesmaids and her two matrons of honor.
Il Cielo is known as one of “the most romantic restaurants in Los Angeles”, and the pair chose to wed under the stars in the restaurant’s Chapel Garden during an intimate ceremony in front of 100 guests. Mark’s Garden (a celebrity favorite!) designed warm colored floral arrangements featuring dark red roses, that were used to decorate the venue. To create the right ambiance, candles, twinkling lights, and chandeliers were also used for decoration. Guests were served fruit, puff pastries, and champagne during a pre-ceremony reception, where they sat at tables decorated with candles and roses and listened to classical music. The actual reception was a sit-down dinner, with dancing, and cake from Buttercake Bakery for dessert.
These gorgeous pics aren't actually from Sokoloff's actual wedding, but we wanted to give you an inside look at the venue itself. Do you love it as much as we do?
No two weddings are the same, but we’re starting to notice that these days a few celebrity brides do have a little something in common -- a gorgeous all-white bouquet in hand! Ivanka Trump carried a lush bouquet of white stephanotis down the aisle to meet new husband Jared Kushner at a gold resort, and actress Milla Jovovich complemented her gorgeous 60s-inspired gown with a bouquet of white Phalaenopsis Orchids, Marroussia Roses, and Hydrangea, when she wed longtime love Paul Anderson in a gorgeous backyard ceremony. Reality star bride Khloe Kardashian chose the look for herself and her pretty-in-purple bridesmaids when she married NBA star Lamar Odom in late summer.
Though we’re usually all about great color combos, this is certainly a look we can get used to -- it’s beautiful, classy, and oh-so-sophisticated. What color is your bouquet?
A True Blood Song Inspired Stephen Moyer’s Proposal to Anna Paquin
Actor Stephen Moyer didn’t have to look far for inspiration when he decided to propose to True Blood co-star Anna Paquin in August. He just borrowed from his character Vampire Bill’s onscreen mojo.
"There's a song Bill listens to in the car about a white sandy beach," Moyer told British Glamour magazine for the November issue. "So we decided to go away for a break – to a white sandy beach – and that's where it happened."
How sweet! He also reveals that the two kept their on-set romance hush-hush for almost 10 months until the day Paquin had to do an awkward love scene with their mutual friend and they thought it best he knew first.
